Claims (10)
- 볼타 셀로서,
(a) (i) 미생물을 포함한 전자 공여체 팝퓰레이션이 안에 제공되고 (ii) 전자 사이펀 팝퓰레이션이 안에 제공된 이온 전도성 매체를 포함하는 버퍼로서, 각각의 전자 사이펀은 1) 상기 전자 공여체 팝퓰레이션의 제 1 미생물 종 또는 제 2 미생물 종의 세포 구성요소로부터 전자들을 수용하는 전자 수용 구성요소, 및 2) 전자들을 상기 전자 수용 구성요소로부터 애노드로 직접적으로 또는 간접적으로 전도하는 전자 전도 엘리먼트를 포함하는, 상기 버퍼;
(b) 상기 버퍼의 전자 공여체 팝퓰레이션을 적어도 부분적으로 포함하는 베셀;
(c) 상기 전자 공여체 팝퓰레이션으로부터 전자들을 수용하고 전자들을 외부 회로 또는 부하에 제공하는 애노드; 및
(d) 상기 버퍼에서의 종 (species) 으로 전자들을 공여하는 캐소드를 포함하고,
상기 전자 사이펀 팝퓰레이션의 각 멤버는 그래핀, 탄소, 금속, 메탈로이드, 합성물, 및 콜로이드로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 재료를 가지며,
상기 볼타 셀은 자신의 세포 구성요소에 전자를 저장하는 능력을 갖는 미생물을 이용하는, 볼타 셀. - 제 1 항에 있어서,
상기 전자 사이펀들은 최대 500 마이크로미터의 메디안 주요 치수를 갖는, 볼타 셀. - 제 1 항에 있어서,
상기 전자 사이펀들은 상기 버퍼 내의 어셈블리를 포함하며, 상기 어셈블리는 전자들을 상기 전자 공여체 팝퓰레이션으로부터 상기 애노드로 전도하도록 구성되는, 볼타 셀. - 제 1 항에 있어서,
상기 버퍼를 애노드 구획 및 캐소드 구획으로 분리하여 상기 전자 공여체 팝퓰레이션이 상기 캐소드와 접촉하는 것을 방지하는 이온 투과성 및 전자 공여체 불투과성 배리어를 더 포함하는, 볼타 셀. - 제 1 항 내지 제 4 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
상기 애노드와 전기 소통하는 전류 컬렉터를 더 포함하는, 볼타 셀. - 제 1 항 내지 제 4 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
상기 전자 사이펀들은 상기 전자 공여체 팝퓰레이션과 도킹하지만 상기 전자 공여체 팝퓰레이션을 포함하는 셀들을 용해시키지 않는 도킹 모이어티 (docking moiety) 를 포함하는, 볼타 셀 - 볼타 셀용 버퍼로서,
(i) 미생물을 갖는 전자 공여체 팝퓰레이션; 및
(ii) 전자 사이펀 팝퓰레이션
을 포함하는 이온 전도성 매체를 포함하며,
각각의 전자 사이펀은 상기 전자 공여체 팝퓰레이션으로부터 전자들을 수용하는 전자 수용 구성요소, 및 전자들을 상기 전자 수용 구성요소로부터 애노드로 직접적으로 또는 간접적으로 전도하는 전자 전도 엘리먼트를 포함하고,
상기 전자 사이펀 팝퓰레이션의 각 멤버는 상기 전자 공여체 팝퓰레이션과 도킹하지만 상기 전자 공여체 팝퓰레이션을 포함하는 셀들을 용해시키지 않는 도킹 모이어티를 포함하는, 볼타 셀용 버퍼. - 제 7 항에 있어서,
