Abstract
본 발명의 바람직한 실시예에 따르면, 본 발명의 편광판은 편광필름과, 편광필름의 상부에 구비되는 보호필름을 포함하며, 전술한 편광필름의 하부에 구비되어 배면으로부터 통과하는 광을 임의의 위상차로 상쇄하는 산란필름을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
이에 따라, 본 발명의 편광판 및 이를 포함하는 액정표시장치는 편광필름을 보호하기 위한 보호필름을 기존의 고가재료가 아닌 저가의 PET필름으로 대체함으로서 편광판 및 이를 포함하는 액정표시장치의 제작단가를 절감할 수 있는 효과가 있다.
Description
도 2는 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 편광판 및 이를 포함하는 액정표시장치의 구조를 도시한 도면이다.
도 3에는 수직, 수평성분 및 기타방향을 가지는 광을 편광필름을 통과시켜 원하는 수평성분의 편광만을 얻는 일 예를 도시한 도면이다.
도 4는 PET 제조공정을 개략적으로 도시한 도면이다.
도 5는 이축연신 처리된 PET의 굴절특성을 나타낸 도면이다.
도 6은 액정패널의 화면상에 나타나는 원 무늬의 간섭무늬(Mura)를 도시한 도면이다.
도 7은 전술한 PET 필름을 통과하는 광의 위상차를 설명하기 위한 도면이다.
도 8은 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 편광판의 PET 필름 및 산란필름을 통과하는 광의 성분을 개략적으로 도시한 도면이다.

Claims (8)
- 제1 면으로 입사되는 광을 편광하여 제2 면으로 출사하는 편광필름;
상기 편광필름의 제1면측에 배치되고 이축 연신된 PET(Polyethylene Terephtalate)로 구성된 제1보호필름;
상기 편광필름의 제2면측에 배치되고 TAC(Tri Acetate Cellulose)으로 구성된 제2보호필름;
상기 편광필름과 상기 제1보호필름 사이에 배치되어 상기 제1보호필름을 투과한 이방성 굴절특성을 가진 광을 임의의 위상차를 가진 광으로 변경하는 산란필름을 포함하는 편광판. - 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 산란필름은 비드(Bead)을 포함하는 편광판.
- 제 2 항에 있어서,
상기 비드는, 헤이즈(Haze) 값이 10% 이상인 편광판. - 제 2 항에 있어서,
상기 비드는, 폴리메틸메타크릴레이드(PolyMethylMethacrylate, PMMA), 폴리카보네이드(PolyCrabonates, PC), 및 실리카(Silca) 중 적어도 하나를 포함하는 편광판. - 제 2 항에 있어서,
상기 PET필름 및 비드는 굴절률 차이(△n)가 0.1 이상인 편광판. - 제 1 항에 있어서,
상기 편광필름은 PVA(PolyVinyl Alcohol) 재질인 구성된 편광판. - 액정패널;
상기 액정패널의 하부에 구비되어 광을 출사하는 백라이트 유닛;
상기 액정패널과 상기 백라이트 유닛 사이에 배치된 제1편광필름, 상기 제1편광필름과 상기 백라이트 유닛 사이에 배치된 이축 연신된 PET(Polyethylene Terephtalate)필름, 상기 제1편광필름과 상기 PET필름 사이에 배치되어 상기 백라이트 유닛으로부터 입사되어 상기 PET필름을 투과한 이방성 굴절특성을 가진 광을 임의의 위상차를 가진 광으로 변경하는 산란필름, 상기 액정패널과 상기 제1편광필름 사이에 배치된 제1TAC(Tri Acetate Cellulose)필름으로 구성된 제1편광판;
상기 액정패널 상부에 배치된 제2편광필름, 상기 제2편광필름의 제1면과 상기 액정패널 사이에 배치된 제2TAC 필름, 상기 제2편광필름의 제2면에 배치된 제3TAC 필름으로 구성된 제2편광판을 포함하는 액정표시장치. - 제 7 항에 있어서, 상기 산란필름은 비드(Bead)을 포함하는 액정표시장치.
