황련 및 연교추출물의 사료첨가제로서 최적 투여량을 알아보기 위하여 시험1에서 사용한 50ppm를 기준으로 삼아 자돈(39일령)에 처음 1주간은 각각 25ppm과 100ppm를 투여하고, 이후에는 각각 100ppm과 300ppm를 투여한 후 증체량비교에서, 각각 100ppm에서 증체효과가 큰 것으로 나타났다. 또한 두 물질의 혼합투여에 의한 상승효과는 없는 것으로 나타났다. 한편으로 살모넬라 및 대장균에 혼합감염된 자돈에 이들 물질을 투여한 경우, 황련추출물과 연교추출물은 질병예방이나 성장촉진 목적으로 사료첨가제로 사용되고 있는 항생제인 CTC 투여군보다 증체효과가 높게 나타났으며, 균접종 후 20일동안 약제를 투여한 후 실질장기별 균회수시험에서도 황련추출물 투여군은 간, 폐 및 장 모두에서 살모넬라균 및 대장균의 음성이었고, 연교추출물 투여군은 3두중 1두에서 양성으로서, 무투약 대조군의 3두 모두에서 살 모넬라균 양성과 3두중 2두 대장균 양성에 비하여 질병치료 효과를 확인할 수 있었다.
