Abstract

본 발명은 디지털 방송 송출 시스템으로부터 송출되는 애플리케이션(application, 응용프로그램), 콘텐츠, 및 PVR 콘트롤 메시지(personal video recorder control message)를 제공받아 그 콘텐츠를 키 입력을 통한 사용자의 요청에 따라 대화식으로 재생하는 장치 및 방법에 관한 것이다.
이와 같은 본 발명에서 텔레비전이나 셋톱박스 형태로 설치될 수 있는 개인용 녹화기는 디지털 방송 송출 시스템으로부터 송출되는 애플리케이션, 콘텐츠, 및 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 제공받아 그 콘텐츠를 키 입력을 통한 사용자의 요청에 따라 대화식으로 재생한다.
따라서, 개인용 녹화기는 콘텐츠를 사용자의 요구에 따라 매우 다양하게 재생하기 때문에, 사용자는 콘텐츠를 매우 다양하게 이용할 수 있다.

본 발명은 개인용 녹화기(personal video recorder, PVR)의 콘텐츠(contents) 재생 장치 및 방법에 관한 것으로, 특히, 디지털 방송 송출 시스템으로부터 송출되는 애플리케이션(application, 응용프로그램), 콘텐츠, 및 PVR 콘트롤 메시지(personal video recorder control message)를 제공받아 그 콘텐츠를 키 입력을 통한 사용자의 요청에 따라 대화식으로 재생하는 장치 및 방법에 관한 것이다.
일반적으로 개인용 녹화기는 개인용 컴퓨터(PC)를 통해 텔레비전을 보면서 동영상을 실시간으로 저장하고 예약 녹화까지 할 수 있는 장치로서, 제조사나 매체에 따라 디지털 녹화기(DVR), 개인용 텔레비전 수신기(PTR), 개인용 비디오 스테이션(PVS), 하드 디스크 녹화기(HDR) 등이 있다. 일반 녹화기와 기본 특징은 별 차이가 없으나 디지털 방식의 프로그램을 저장하고 생방송 프로그램처럼 재생된다.
그러나 이와 같은 일반적인 개인용 녹화기는 단순히 디지털 방식의 프로그램을 저장했다가 특정 부분의 영상을 정지 영상 처리하거나 원래의 프로그램을 재생할 뿐, 키 입력을 통한 사용자의 요청에 따라 대화식으로 재생하지는 못했다.
본 발명은 전술한 과제를 해결하기 위하여 안출한 것으로, 디지털 방송 송출 시스템으로부터 송출되는 애플리케이션, 콘텐츠, 및 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 제공받아 그 콘텐츠를 키 입력을 통한 사용자의 요청에 따라 대화식으로 재생하는 개인용 녹화기의 콘텐츠 재생 장치 및 방법을 제공하는데 그 목적이 있다.
이와 같은 목적을 달성하기 위하여,
본 발명의 일 형태에 따르면, 디지털 방송 송출 시스템으로부터 특정 채널을 통해 송출되는 애플리케이션, 콘텐츠, 및 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 수신하여 상기 콘텐츠를 재생하는 개인용 녹화기의 콘텐츠 재생 장치로서, 상기 특정 채널을 통해 제공되는 상기 애플리케이션, 콘텐츠, 및 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 수신하는 수신부; 상기 수신부로부터 제공되는 상기 콘텐츠를 재생하는 재생부; 상기 재생부로부터 제공되는 콘텐츠를 저장하고, 이미 저장된 특정 콘텐츠를 상기 재생부로 제공하는 저장부; 키 입력에 따른 각 명령을 수행하여, 상기 수신부로부터 제공되는 상기 애플리케이션을 로딩(loading)해서 상기 애플리케이션을 구동시키고, 상기 수신부로부터 상기 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 제공받아 상기 애플리케이션에 연동시키고, 상기 저장부의 동작 및 상기 재생부의 동작을 상기 애플리케이션에 따라 사용자 대화식으로 제어하는 제어부를 포함하는 것이 제공된다.
바람직하게는 상기 제어부는 상기 키 입력에 따른 각 명령을 리모콘(REMOCON)을 통해 제공받는 것이 좋다.
상기 제어부는 상기 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 상기 수신부를 통해 수신한 시점에 상기 콘텐츠를 포즈시키고 상기 키 입력에 의한 재생 명령에 따라 상기 애플리케이 션에 의거하여 상기 재생부를 제어해서 상기 콘텐츠를 재생하도록 할 수 있다.
상기 PVR 콘트롤 메시지는 실시간 콘트롤 메시지 트리거링(control message triggering) 방법으로 송출되는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 PVR 콘트롤 메시지는 메타데이터(metadata) 송출 방법으로 송출될 수 있다. 상기 메타데이터는 사용자 액션에 따라 부가 컨텐츠를 보여주도록 하고, 그 동안 방송되고 있는 컨텐츠는 저장되도록 하는 필드를 포함하는 것이 좋다. 상기 메타데이터는 사용자의 특정 액션에 맞춰 방송 컨텐츠의 일부를 저장했다가 차후 포즈/재생을 수행할 때 컨트롤 메시지 위치를 복구하도록 하는 필드를 포함할 수 있다.
본 발명의 다른 형태에 따르면, 디지털 방송 송출 시스템으로부터 특정 채널을 통해 송출되는 애플리케이션, 콘텐츠, 및 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 수신하여 상기 콘텐츠를 재생하는 개인용 녹화기의 콘텐츠 재생 장치에서 콘텐츠 재생 방법으로서, (a) 상기 애플리케이션을 구동시키는 단계; (b) 상기 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 상기 애플리케이션에 연동시키는 단계; (c) 상기 콘텐츠의 재생을 상기 애플리케이션에 따라 사용자 대화식으로 제어하는 단계를 포함하는 것이 제공된다.

이하, 첨부된 도면을 참조하여 본 발명에 따른 실시예를 상세히 설명하면 다음과 같다.
도 1은 본 발명에 따른 개인용 녹화기의 사용예를 나타낸 망 구성도로, 디지털 방송 송출 시스템(10), 안테나(antenna)(12, 20), 개인용 녹화기(24), 및 리모콘(22)으로 구성된다.
동 도면에 있어서, 디지털 방송 송출 시스템(10)은 애플리케이션, 콘텐츠, 및 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 특정 채널에 해당하는 캐리어 주파수에 실어서 안테나(12)를 통해 공중으로 송출한다.
개인용 녹화기(24)는 사용자 명령을 리모콘(22) 또는, 자체에 구비된 키 입력부를 통해 받고, 디지털 방송 송출 시스템(10)으로부터 애플리케이션, 콘텐츠, 및 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 안테나(20)를 통해 받는다. 개인용 녹화기(24)는 애플리케이션을 구동시키고, PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 그 애플리케이션에 연동시켜, 그 콘텐츠를 사용자 대화식으로 재생한다.
도 2는 도 1에 도시된 개인용 녹화기(24)의 일 실시예를 나타낸 블록도로, 수신부(26), 재생부(28), 저장부(30), 키 입력부(32), 리모콘 신호 수신부(34), 및 제어부(36)로 구성된다. 이와 같은 개인용 녹화기(24)는 텔레비전 내부에 또는 셋톱박스 형태로 설치될 수 있다.
동 도면에 있어서, 개인용 녹화기(24) 내의 수신부(26)는 디지털 방송 송출 시스템(10)으로부터 특정 채널을 통해 송출되는 애플리케이션, 콘텐츠, 및 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 수신한다. 상기 애플리케이션, 콘텐츠, 및 PVR 콘트롤 메시지는 콘텐츠 제작자가 디지털 방송 송출 시스템(10) 내의 해당 서버 등에 미리 등록시켜 놓아야 한다. 상기 PVR 콘트롤 메시지는 실시간 콘트롤 메시지 트리거링 방법이나 메타데이터 송출 방법으로 송출된다. 상기 실시간 콘트롤 메시지 트리거링 방법은 상기 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 상기 콘텐츠 전송에 동기화하여 개인용 녹화기(24)로 전송하는 방법을 의미한다. 상기 메타데이터 송출 방법은 상기 콘텐츠를 포즈/재생 할 시점의 정보를 메타데이터로 송출하는 것으로, 표 1과 같은 각 정보를 송출할 수 있다.
예로, 필드 'URL of Additional Content'는 사용자 액션에 따라 부가 컨텐츠를 보여주도록 한다. 예로, 부가 컨텐츠 정보를 애플리케이션이 보여주고, 그 동안 방송되고 있는 컨텐츠는 저장부(30)에 저장된다. 부가 컨텐츠가 종료되거나 사용자의 액션에 의해 중지되면 저장부(30)에 저장된 방송 컨텐츠의 리턴 미디어 오프셋(return media offset)으로 돌아온다. 즉, 사용자의 키 입력이나 타임아웃과 같은 액션만을 기다리는 것이 아니라 특정 상황에서 부가 콘텐츠를 끼워서 보여주는 것이다. 이를 교육방송에 적용시켜 보면, 문제를 틀린 사람에게 풀이 해답 동영상을 IP로 다운 받아 보여주던지, 풀이 설명을 방송망 혹은 IP로 다운 받아 보여줄 수 있다. 물론, 풀이 해답 동영상을 보여주는 동안의 방송 컨텐츠는 저장부(30)에 저장된다. 상기 부가 콘텐츠는 해당 부가 콘텐츠 서버(도면 중에 도시되지 않음)로부터 인터넷을 통해 제공받을 수 있고 그 부가 콘텐츠 서버와 양방향으로 통신이 가능하다.
또한, 필드 'Associated media (start offset ~ end offset)'는 사용자 액션에 따라 저장된 컨텐츠의 책갈피를 저장/재생하도록 한다. 즉, 사용자의 특정 액션에 맞춰 방송 컨텐츠의 일부를 특정 버퍼(buffer)에 저장했다가 차후 포즈/재생 등을 수행할 때 컨트롤 메시지 위치를 복구할 수 있도록 한다. 상기 특정 버퍼는 제어부(36)에 구비할 수 있다. 이때, 문제 풀이에 해당하는 동영상의 일부(media clip)에 대한 정보를 컨트롤 메시지에 보내서 사용자가 오답을 했을 경우 따로 저장하도록 명령한다. 차후 방송 종료 후에, 애플리케이션과 동기하거나 미들웨어를 통해 저장된 컨텐츠를 재생하도록 할 수 있다.

재생부(28)는 제어부(36)의 각 명령에 따라 동작하여, 수신부(26)로부터 제공되는 콘텐츠를 재생해서 해당 영상 신호 및 음성 신호를 각기 출력한다. 상기 영상 신호는 특정 화면에 제공됨으로써 그 특정 화면은 상기 영상 신호에 대응하는 영상을 디스플레이하여 사용자가 볼 수 있도록 한다. 상기 음성 신호는 특정 음성 처리 장치에 제공됨으로써 그 특정 음성 처리 장치는 상기 음성 신호에 대응하는 음성을 출력하여 사용자가 들을 수 있도록 한다.
저장부(30)는 제어부(36)의 각 명령에 따라 동작하여, 재생부(28)로부터 제공되는 콘텐츠를 저장하고, 이미 저장된 특정 콘텐츠를 재생부(28)로 제공한다. 상기 저장부(30)는 HDD, 플래시 메모리 등으로 구성될 수 있다.
제어부(36)는 키 입력부(32) 또는, 리모콘(22)의 신호를 수신하는 리모콘 신호 수신부(34)로부터 제공되는 사용자의 키 입력에 따른 각 명령을 수행하여, 수신부(26)로부터 제공되는 애플리케이션을 로딩해서 그 애플리케이션을 구동시키고, 수신부(26)로부터 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 제공받아 상기 애플리케이션에 연동시키고, 저장부(30)의 동작 및 재생부(28)의 동작을 상기 애플리케이션에 따라 사용자 대화식으로 제어한다. 제어부(36)는 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 수신부(26)를 통해 수신한 시점에 콘텐츠를 포즈시키고 사용자의 명령을 기다리다가 사용자의 키 입력에 의한 재생 명령에 따라 상기 애플리케이션에 의거하여 재생부(28)를 제어해서 상기 콘텐츠를 재생하도록 한다.
도 3은 본 발명에 따른 개인용 녹화기의 콘텐츠 재생 방법의 일 실시예를 단계별로 나타낸 순서도이다.
먼저 제어부(36)는 키 입력부(32) 또는, 리모콘(22)의 신호를 수신하는 리모콘 신호 수신부(34)로부터 제공되는 채널 선택 신호에 따라 수신부(26)의 수신 채널을 제어한다(단계 S10). 따라서 수신부(26)는 제어부(36)의 제어에 대응하는 수신 채널을 형성하고, 그 형성된 수신 채널을 통해 디지털 방송 송출 시스템(10)으로부터 송출되는 애플리케이션, 콘텐츠, 및 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 수신한다.
제어부(36)는 수신부(26)로부터 상기 애플리케이션을 로딩하고, 그 로딩된 애플리케이션을 구동시키며, 상기 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 상기 애플리케이션에 연동시킨다(단계 S12).
제어부(36)는 상기 콘텐츠의 재생을 상기 애플리케이션에 따라 사용자 대화식으로 제어한다(단계 S14 내지 20).
즉, 제어부(36)는 상기 PVR 콘트롤 메시지에 의거하여 콘텐츠 재생을 포즈할 것인지 여부를 판단한다(단계 S14). 제어부(36)는 상기 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 수신할 때까지 재생부(28)를 제어해서 상기 콘텐츠를 재생하도록 한다(단계 S16).
반면, 제어부(36)는 상기 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 수신하는 경우 재생부(28) 및 저장부(30)를 제어해서 재생부(28)로부터 출력되는 콘텐츠가 저장부(30)에 저장되도록 하고 부가 콘텐츠를 재생한다(단계 S18). 제어부(36)는 재생 명령 등의 사용자 명령이 있거나 타임아웃일 때 까지 상기 콘텐츠를 계속 저장하고 부가 콘텐츠를 재생한다(단계 S20). 사용자 명령이 있거나 타임아웃일 경우 그 사용자 명령에 따라 연합된 미디어 클립 저장 조건에 만족하면 해당 콘텐츠를 저장부(30)에 저장한다(단계 S22). 아울러, 재생 명령 등의 사용자 명령이 있거나 타임아웃이 되어 포즈 조건에서 벗어나고, 리턴할 위치가 지정되어 있다면 그 위치부터 재생한다. 이때, 리턴할 위치에 대응하는 콘텐츠가 저장부(30)에 저장되어 있다면 그 저장부(30)를 액세스(access)하여, 해당 위치부터 재생한다.
상술한 바와 같이 본 발명의 방법은 프로그램으로 구현되어 컴퓨터로 읽을 수 있는 형태로 기록매체(씨디롬, 램, 롬, 플로피 디스크, 하드 디스크, 광자기 디스크 등)에 저장될 수 있다.
이상에서 본 발명에 대한 기술사상을 첨부도면과 함께 서술하였지만 이는 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예를 예시적으로 설명한 것이지 본 발명을 한정하는 것은 아니다. 또한, 이 기술분야의 통상의 지식을 가진 자라면 누구나 본 발명의 기술사상의 범주를 이탈하지 않는 범위 내에서 다양한 변형 및 모방이 가능함은 명백한 사실이다.
이상에서 설명한 바와 같이 본 발명은, 텔레비전이나 셋톱박스 형태로 설치될 수 있는 개인용 녹화기는 디지털 방송 송출 시스템으로부터 송출되는 애플리케이션, 콘텐츠, 및 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 제공받아 그 콘텐츠를 키 입력을 통한 사용자의 요청에 따라 대화식으로 재생한다.
따라서, 개인용 녹화기는 콘텐츠를 사용자의 요구에 따라 매우 다양하게 재생하기 때문에, 사용자는 콘텐츠를 매우 다양하게 이용할 수 있다.

  3. 디지털 방송 송출 시스템으로부터 특정 채널을 통해 송출되는 애플리케이션, 콘텐츠, 및 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 수신하여 상기 콘텐츠를 재생하는 개인용 녹화기의 콘텐츠 재생 장치로서,
    상기 특정 채널을 통해 제공되는 상기 애플리케이션, 콘텐츠, 및 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 수신하는 수신부;
    상기 수신부로부터 제공되는 상기 콘텐츠를 재생하는 재생부;
    상기 재생부로부터 제공되는 콘텐츠를 저장하고, 이미 저장된 특정 콘텐츠를 상기 재생부로 제공하는 저장부; 및
    상기 수신부로부터 제공되는 상기 애플리케이션을 로딩해서 상기 애플리케이션을 구동시키고, 상기 수신부로부터 상기 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 제공받아 상기 애플리케이션에 연동시키고, 상기 저장부의 동작 및 상기 재생부의 동작을 상기 애플리케이션에 따라 사용자 대화식으로 제어하는 제어부를 포함하며,
    상기 제어부는 상기 PVR 콘트롤 메시지를 상기 수신부를 통해 수신한 시점에 상기 콘텐츠를 포즈시키고 상기 키 입력에 의한 재생 명령에 따라 상기 애플리케이션에 의거하여 상기 재생부를 제어해서 상기 콘텐츠를 재생하는 것을 특징으로 하는 개인용 녹화기의 콘텐츠 재생 장치.

    상기 PVR 콘트롤 메시지는 실시간 콘트롤 메시지 트리거링 방법으로 송출되는 것을 특징으로 하는 개인용 녹화기의 콘텐츠 재생 장치.

    상기 PVR 콘트롤 메시지는 메타데이터 송출 방법으로 송출되는 것을 특징으로 하는 개인용 녹화기의 콘텐츠 재생 장치.
  6. 청구항 5에 있어서,
    상기 메타데이터는 사용자 액션에 따라 부가 컨텐츠를 보여주도록 하고, 그 동안 방송되고 있는 컨텐츠는 저장되도록 하는 필드를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 개인용 녹화기의 콘텐츠 재생 장치.
  7. 청구항 5에 있어서,
    상기 메타데이터는 사용자의 특정 액션에 맞춰 방송 컨텐츠의 일부를 저장했다가 차후 재생을 수행할 때 컨트롤 메시지 위치를 복구하도록 하는 필드를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 개인용 녹화기의 콘텐츠 재생 장치.
