Claims (9)
- 대향하는 2개의 기판 사이에 자발 분극을 갖는 액정 물질을 갖고, 상기 한쪽 기판 내면에 각각이 각 화소에 대응한 복수의 전극 및 스위칭 소자를 설치한 액정표시소자에 있어서,상기 각 스위칭 소자의 스위칭에 의해 상기 각 화소에 주입되는 최대 전하량이 상기 액정 물질의 자발 분극의 완전 반전에 따른 각 화소당 반전 전류의 총전하량보다 작은 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 대향하는 2개의 기판 사이에 자발 분극을 갖는 액정 물질을 갖고, 상기 한쪽 기판 내면에 각각이 각 화소에 대응한 복수의 전극 및 스위칭 소자를 설치한 액정표시소자에 있어서,상기 각 스위칭 소자의 스위칭에 의해 상기 각 화소에 주입되는 최대 전하량을 Q, 상기 각 전극의 면적을 A, 상기 자발 분극의 단위 면적당 크기를 Ps라고 한 경우에, 2Ps·A>Q의 관계를 만족시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서,상기 액정 물질의 콘각은 45°이상인 액정표시소자.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서,상기 액정 물질은 강유전성 액정 물질인 액정표시소자.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서,상기 스위칭 소자의 액정 물질 구동 전극 측에 축적 부가 용량을 구비하는 액정표시소자.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서,구동 시의 상기 액정 물질의 광학축 변화가 45°이하인 액정표시소자.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서,상기 액정 물질의 광 투과율이 최대로 될 때의 상기 액정 물질에 대한 인가 전압을 V로 한 경우, 0∼±V의 인가 전압 범위에서 상기 액정 물질의 구동을 행하도록 한 액정표시소자.
- 제 7 항에 있어서,상기 인가 전압이 +V 또는 -V일 때에 상기 각 화소에 주입되는 전하량을 q로 한 경우, +V 또는 -V에서의 상기 인가 전압에 의한 상기 액정 물질의 응답에 의해 흐르는 전류의 총전하량이 q 이하인 액정표시소자.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서,3원색을 발광시키는 광원을 갖는 백라이트를 구비하고 있으며, 상기 스위칭 소자의 온/오프 구동에 동기하여 상기 광원의 발광색을 시분할적으로 전환시킴으로써, 컬러 표시를 행하도록 되어 있는 액정표시소자.
