Description
Claims (19)
- 투과형 액정패널;상기 투과형 액정패널의 전면부에 위치되며, 영상 표시를 위한 빛을 공급하는 프론트 라이트 유닛(front light unit);상기 투과형 액정패널의 후면부에 위치되며, 입사되는 빛을 반사 또는 투과시키는 광조절수단;을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 투과형 액정패널;상기 투과형 액정패널의 전면부에 위치되며, 영상 표시를 위한 빛을 공급하는 프론트 라이트 유닛(front light unit);상기 투과형 액정패널의 후면부에 위치되며, 입사되는 빛을 반사 또는 투과시키는 광조절수단;을 포함하여 구성되며,상기 투과형 액정패널에서 투과되는 빛을 상기 광조절수단에서 재반사시킴으로써 상기 투과형 액정패널의 전면부에 영상을 표시하는 제 1 디스플레이 모드 및 상기 투과형 액정패널에서 투과되는 빛을 상기 광조절수단에서 투과시킴으로써 상기 투과형 액정패널의 후면부에 영상을 표시하는 제 2 디스플레이 모드의 양방향으로 영상을 표시하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 1항 또는 제 2항에 있어서,상기 프론트 라이트 유닛은 광원을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 3항에 있어서,상기 광원은 LED 또는 냉음극형광램프(CCFL) 또는 외부전극형광램프(EEFL) 중에서 선택되어 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 3항에 있어서,상기 광원은 백색 LED로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 3항에 있어서,상기 광원은 적색 LED, 녹색 LED, 청색 LED로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 1항 또는 제 2항에 있어서,상기 투과형 액정패널은,박막트랜지스터를 갖는 어레이 소자와, 상기 어레이 소자 위에 형성되며 입사된 빛을 투과시켜 영상을 표시하는 투과전극을 구비하는 제 1 기판;상기 제 1 기판의 대향되는 위치에 마련되며, 상기 제 1 기판의 투과전극이 형성된 영역의 대응되는 위치에 형성된 컬러필터와, 상기 컬러필터 사이에 형성된 블랙매트릭스를 구비하는 제 2 기판;상기 제 1 기판 및 제 2 기판 사이에 충진된 액정층; 을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 7항에 있어서,상기 어레이 소자는,제 1 방향으로 형성된 복수의 게이트 라인;상기 게이트 라인과 수직 방향으로 형성된 복수의 데이터 라인;상기 게이트 라인 및 데이터 라인에 의하여 구분되어지는 화소 영역;상기 게이트 라인과 데이터 라인의 교차 영역에 형성된 박막트랜지스터;를 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 7항에 있어서,상기 제 2 기판은 상기 컬러필터 하부에 형성된 공통전극을 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 1항 또는 제 2항에 있어서,상기 프론트 라이트 유닛으로부터 빛을 입사받고, 그 입사된 빛을 상기 투과 형 액정패널에 집광시키는 마이크로 렌즈 쉬트를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 1항 또는 제 2항에 있어서상기 프론트 라이트 유닛으로부터 빛을 입사받고, 상기 투과형 액정패널을 이루는 영역의 개구부에 상기 입사된 빛을 집광시키는 마이크로 렌즈 쉬트를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 10항에 있어서,상기 마이크로 렌즈 쉬트는, 광원으로부터 입사되는 빛을 상기 투과형 액정패널의 개구부에 집광시키며, 상기 개구부는 상기 투과형 액정패널을 이루는 블랙매트릭스가 형성되지 않은 영역인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 10항에 있어서,상기 마이크로 렌즈 쉬트는 렌티큘러 렌즈(lenticular lens) 또는 실린드리컬 렌즈(cylindrical lens) 형상으로 형성된 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 10항에 있어서,상기 마이크로 렌즈 쉬트는 상기 투과형 액정패널을 이루는 각 화소 단위 별로 대응되는 위치에 각각 렌즈 형상이 형성된 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 14항에 있어서,상기 렌즈 형상은 구면 또는 비구면 또는 디센터(Decenter) 렌즈 형상 중에서 선택되어 형성된 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 1항 또는 제 2항에 있어서,상기 광조절수단은 PDLC(Polymer-Dispersed Liquid Crystal)를 포함하여 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 16항에 있어서,상기 PDLC는, 전압이 인가되는 경우에는 입사되는 빛을 투과시키고, 전압이 인가되지 않은 경우에는 입사되는 빛을 반사시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 15항에 있어서,상기 PDLC는, 전압이 인가되지 않은 경우에 입사되는 빛을 반사시킴에 있어 난반사 시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 1항 또는 제 2항에 의한 액정표시장치;외부와의 통신을 수행하는 통신 수단;상기 통신 수단 및 상기 액정표시장치의 영상 표시를 제어하는 제어부; 를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 이동통신 단말기.
