Abstract
감광 디바이스(10)는 굴절 캡쳐 렌즈에 의해 야기된 색수차 및 분산을 오프셋하는 회절렌즈로 이루어진다. 회절렌즈(14)는 광 개시제를 구비한 졸-겔 물질이나, 통상적으로 포토레지스트와 관련되어서 사용되는 저온 기술로 한정될 수 있는 것을 포함한 기타 물질로 이루어질 수 있다.
Description
이미징 디바이스는 예를들어, 상보형 금속 산화막 반도체(CMOS) 기술을 사용해서 제조될 수 있다. CMOS기술을 사용해서 제조된 이미징 디바이스는 능동 픽셀센서(APS) 및 수동 픽셀 센서(PPS)를 포함한다. 대안적으로 전하 결합 디바이스(CCD)기술을 사용할 수 있다. 이들 디바이스 모두 초소형으로 제작될 수 있다.
초소형 이미징 어레이는 필 팩터(fill factor)문제를 안고 있다. 필 팩터란 임의의 주어진 픽셀에 입사하는 전체 광의 양을 나타내는 비율이다. 이상적으로, 각각의 광검출기에 입사는 광의 양은 신호 대 잡음비를 가능한한 높이도록 설계된다. 소형 광검출기의 필 팩터를 향상시키기 위해서, 마이크로렌즈가 광검출기 위에 놓여진다. 마이크로렌즈는 들어오는 입사광의 초점을 광검출기상의 하나의 픽셀에 맞추어서, 광검출기의 필팩터를 향상시킨다.
이미징 디바이스에 사용되는 종래의 렌즈 시스템은 고가인 양품의 굴절렌즈를 채용한다. 높은 개구수를 갖는 이들 렌즈는 색수차 및 보정을 줄이기 위해 사용될 수 있다. 분산 및 색수차는 다른 색(즉, 다른 파장의 광)을 다르게 하는 초점 이동을 초래한다. 분산은 측정되어서 Abbe 또는 V수로 표현될 수 있다. 고가의 굴절 렌즈에서의 온도 및 파장에 기인한 초점 길이의 변화는 성능을 저하시킬 수 있다.
따라서, 개선된 특성을 가진 렌즈 시스템을 가지는 것이 바람직하다.
본 발명은 예를들어 카메라 및 스캐너를 포함한 디지털 이미징 디바이스에 사용될 수 있는 렌즈 및 광검출기에 관한 것이다.
광검출기는 디지털 이미징 디바이스내의 광을 검출하기 위해 사용된다. 많은 수의 광검출기가 주어진 픽셀에서의 광감도값을 검출하기 위해 사용될 수 있다. 이들 광감도값은 디지털화되어서 각각의 이미지의 디지털 그림을 형성하기 위해 사용된다. 이런 이미징 디바이스는 디지털 카메라, 스캐너 및 기타 디바이스에 사용된다.

일 실시예에서 따라서, 광검출기는 회절 렌즈 소자를 포함한다. 감광 디바이스가 렌즈 소자를 통해서 수광하도록 배열된다. 굴절 렌즈는 회절 렌즈 소자와 일렬로 배치된다.
도 1에 도시된 일체화된 감광 디바이스(10)는 입력 광 신호를 광검출기에 입사된 광의 감도에 관한 정보를 실은 아날로그 신호로 변환하는 광검출기(12)를 포함한다. 복수의 픽셀을 포함하는 광검출기로부터의 신호는 노출된 이미지의 디지털 재생을 위해 디지털화될 수 있다. 디지털 표현은 디지털 카메라, 스캐너 및 기타 이미징 디바이스에 사용되어서 노출된 장면의 표시를 재생한다.
회절 렌즈(14)는 광검출기(12) 어레이의 상부에 중심이 맞춰진다. 렌즈 소자(14a, 14b)는 광을 회절시켜서 더 많은 광이 노출된, 하부에 놓인 광검출기(12)에 비쳐지게 한다. 게다가, 렌즈(14)는 회절 캡쳐 또는 테이킹 렌즈(11)에 의해 야기된 포지티브 분산 및 색수차를 없애거나 보정할 수 있다. 회절 렌즈(14)는 굴절 렌즈상의 높은 개구수의 절박한 필요성을 제거하는 것을 돕는다.
광검출기(12)는 실질적으로 광 투과 창을 포함하고 있는 패키지(18)에 수용될 수 있다. 굴절 렌즈(11)에 의해 굴절된 광은 광검출기(12)에 도달하기 전에 렌즈(14)에 의해 회절된다. 예를들어, 렌즈(14)는 창(16)에 고정될 수 있거나, 창(16)의 일부로서 제조될 수 있다.
도 4를 참조하여, 렌즈(14)는 상부에서 보았을 때, 대칭인 반원형상이 될 수 있고, 전체적으로는 피라미드 구조를 갖는다. 렌즈(14)는 도 1에 도시된 바와 같이, 측면에서 보았을 때, 계단형의 구조를 만들 수 있는 복수의 계단의 형태가 될 수 있다. 비록 도 1에는 네 개의 계단이 도시되어 있지만, 계단의 수는 실질적으로 상당히 다양하고, 이는 각각의 감광 어레이의 설계에 따른다.

컴포지트 시스템의 F-수는 간단하게 유효 초점 길이(Feff)를 렌즈의 직경으로 나눈 것이다.
도 2를 참조하면, 회절 렌즈(14)는 캐리어(46)상에 설치될 수 있다. 캐리어(46)는 창(16)내의 노치(44)와 결합되는 정렬 핀(42)을 포함할 수 있다. 이런 방식으로, 회절 렌즈(14)는 창(16)과 정확하게 정렬될 수 있고, 이로써 광검출기(12)와 정렬될 수 있다. 창 및 캐리어(46)상에 정렬 마크를 사용하는 것을 포함한 다른 정렬 시스템도 사용될 수 있다.

렌즈(14:및 마이크로 렌즈(40))를 성형하는 하나의 유리한 물질은 졸-겔 하이브리드 글라스이다. 본 발명에 사용하기에 유익한 졸-겔 하이브이드 글라스는 저온 제조 공정을 사용해서 제조될 수 있다. 따라서, 글라스는 포토레지스트 제조와 관련되어서 사용되는 기술과 비교되는 기술을 사용해서 성형되고 형성될 수 있다.즉, UV광은 졸-겔 물질의 일부를 노출시키고 현상해서, 잔여 부분을 제거하기 위해 사용될 수 있다. 또한, 졸-겔은 렌즈를 제조하기 위해 사용되는 종래의 물질에 비해서, 유리한 투과성을 나타낸다.
졸-겔 글라스는 예를들어, 테트라에틸오르토실리케이트(TEOS) 및/또는 테트라메틸오르토실리케이트(TMOS)의 가수분해에 의해 성형된다. 가수분해후에, 이들 물질은 옥소화 또는 산소화 및 중합하기 쉽다. 만약 광개시제가 복합체에 포함된다면, 물질은 종래의 포토레지스트 패터닝 기술을 사용해서 성형될 수 있다.
일 실시예에 따라, 졸-겔 하이브리드 글라스는 수분의 존재하에 메타크릴레이트기 치환 실란의 가수분해 축중합에 의해 제조될 수 있다. 겔 가수분해가 발생함으로써, 메틸아크릴옥시프로필 트리메톡시실란 또는 글리시톡시프로필트리메틸실란 전구체 물질이 희석된 산성 또는 염기성 수용액과, 예를들어 몰비 1:2로 각각 수 시간동안 반응하게 한다.
스핀 코팅하기 전에, 적당한 양의 1-히드록시시클록헥실 페닐 케톤이 광 개시제로서 첨가되어서, 불포화 글라스 하이브리드 중합체의 중합을 개시시킨다.
일 실시예에서, 겔은, 응집된 중합체 입자를 제거해서 양질의 표면을 가진 필름을 제조하기 위해 0.1 밀리미터 필터로 필터링된다. 이후에 필름은 창(16)의 상부에 놓여지거나 다른 기판에 놓여져서, 예를들어, 일실시예에서, 60℃에서 15분 동안 사전-소성될 수 있다. 결과적인 필름의 두께는 스피닝 속도 및 메탄올, 에탄올 또는 크실렌과 같은 용제의 사용을 바꿈으로써 조정가능하다.
도 5에 도시된 바와 같이, 일 실시예에서, 스핀 코팅된 필름은 포토마스크의개구부를 통해서 수은 UV 램프 또는 기타광원에, 예를들어 1 내지 30분 동안 노출될 수 있다. 상세하게는 UV 마스크(24)는 창(16)위에 놓인 하이브리드 졸-겔(26) 위에 놓여져서, 도 6의 라인(30)으로 도시되어 있는 바와 같이 차이가 있는(graded) 노출 패턴을 졸-겔(26)에 생성한다. 패턴화된 구조(28)는 이소프로판올과 같은 현상액으로 현상되고, 졸-겔중에서 노출되지 않은 부분이 제거되어서, 도 7에 도시된 바와 같이 계단(32)을 형성한다. 일 실시예에서, 이 제거 단계에서, 필름은 예를들어, 100℃ 내지 200℃에서 10 내지 60분 혹은 그보다 적은 시간 동안 사후소성되어서 필름을 경화시킬 수 있다.

특정 물질의 성질이 요구된다면, 티타늄, 실리콘 또는 지르코늄, 또는 이들 물질의 미리 가수분해된 알콕시드가 메타크릴레이트기 치환 실란의 용제에 첨가될 수 있다. 예를들어, 티타늄(Ⅳ)-프로폭시드 및 지르코늄(Ⅳ)-프로폭시드가 사용될 수 있다. 지르코늄 프로폭시드의 침전을 방지하기 위해 메타크릴산이 사용될 수 있다.
도 4에 도시된 렌즈의 형상을 생성하기 위해서, 그레이 스케일의 마스크가 사용될 수 있다. Suleski,T.J. 및 Oshea,D.C.의 1995,"Gray Scale Mask For Diffractive Optics Fabrication" Appl. Optics 34, 7507을 참조하라. 석영 또는 글라스가 될 수 있는 종래의 마스크 물질은 크롬으로 코팅되는 것이 일반적이다.이런 방식으로, 졸-겔은 200℃이하의 온도에서 침전되어서 패터닝될 수 있다.
도 8에 도시된 바와 같이, 창(16)은 집적 회로 이미징 다이(38)를 포함한 패키지(20)내에 형성될 수 있다. 렌즈(14)는 패키지 창(16)의 외측에 형성될 수 있다. 광검출기(12)는 다이(38)상에 형성된다:그러나, 어떤 실시예에서, 다이는 일예로 마이크로프로세서와 같은 다른 소자도 포함할 수 있다. 패키지(20)는 굴절 캡쳐 및 테이킹 렌즈(도 8에는 도시되어 있지 않음)와 광 정렬되도록 창(16)내에 위치된다.
대안적으로, 광학적으로 투명하고, 안정적인 포지티브 포토레지스트가 반도체 제조 공정중에서, 종래에 포토레지스트와 함께 사용된 처리를 사용해서 저온 렌즈(14)를 형성하기 위해 사용될 수 있다. 예를들어, Sunnyvale, California에 위치한 JSR Microelectronics, Inc.,에 의해 제조된 MFR-324가 렌즈를 형성하기 위해 사용될 수 있다.

Claims (20)
- 광검출기에 있어서,패키지된 감광 디바이스;상기 패키지된 상기 감광 디바이스상에 배열되고, 광 개시제를 포함하는 졸-겔 물질로 형성되고, 하나 하나 포개진 복수의 표면을 포함하는 계단 형상을 가지는 회절 렌즈; 및상기 패키지된 감광 디바이스 위에 형성된 창을 포함하고 있으며, 상기 회절 렌즈는 상기 창위에 형성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 광검출기.
