Abstract

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for disposing commingled municipal solid waste are provided, which can reduce the generation of organic waste drastically, thereby reducing landfill stabilization period. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a storage hopper(10) in which commingled municipal solid waste is received; a crusher(20) which crushes the commingled municipal solid waste transferred from the storage hopper; a metal separator(30) which selectively sorts metal wastes out from the crushed waste; a sorter(40) which classifies the crushed waste according to its size; a container(50) which composts organic waste separated out of the crushed waste; and a baler(70) which bales combustible waste.
