[발명의 분야]
본 발명은 액체 투과성 상면시이트, 액체 불투과성 배면시이트, 및 흡수물질의 보유층 및 이러한 보유층과 상면시이트사이에 하나이상의 제1 및 제2티슈 시이트를 포함하는, 5mm미만의 두께(caliper)를 갖는 흡수코어를 갖는 생리대에 관한 것이다.
[발명의 배경]
이러한 생리대는 미합중국 특허원 제 5,009,653호에 기술되어 있다.
상기 특허문헌에는 하이드로겔 형성물질의 층이 사이에 포함된 2개의 공기-층형성된 티슈 시이트의 적층물로 구성된 코어를 갖는 생리대가 기술되어 있다. 이러한 흡수코어는 예를들면, 2mm미만의 비교적 작은 두께를 갖는다. 코어중에 포함된 흡수성 겔화 물질의 효율을 개선시키기 위해서, 상면시이트와 근접하게 와이프 포획 시이트를 적층물상에 위치시켜 액체의 측방향 확산을 개선시킨다. 와이프 포획시이트는 0.005g/㎠의 기본중량 및 약 0.04cm의 두께를 갖는 70%/30% 레이온/폴리에스테르 섬유 시이트일 수 있고 이. 아이. 듀퐁 네모아스 캄파니(E. I. DuPont Nemours Company)로부터 상표면 "손타라(Sontara)"로서 구입할 수 있다.
와이프 포획 시이트아래에, 습식-층형성된 티슈를 위치시켜 흐트러진 흡수성 겔화물질을 구속하고, 측방향 흡상(wicking)을 개선시키고, 얼마간의 흡수성을 제공하고, 흡수코어 이면에 흡수된 유체가 상면시이트로 유동하는 것을 감소시키는 작용을 한다. 이러한 습식-층형성된 티슈는 약15.8g/㎡의 기본중량을 갖는다.
공지된 생리대에서, 유체는 상면시이트 부근에 위치한 상부티슈중에 보유될 수 있다. 이로인하여 상부 티슈 이면으로부터 체액이 상면시이트를 통해서 이동할 수 있다(재습윤).
본 발명의 목적은 비교적 작은 두께를 갖고 보유층으로의 유체의 이동이 개선되고 재습윤될 가능성이 비교적 낮은 생리대를 제공하는 것이다.
본 발명의 또 다른 목적은 개선된 유체 분산기능 및 비교적 높은 유효 흡수용량(얼룩이 생기기전의 흡수용량)을 갖는 생리대를 제공하는 것이다.
[발명의 요약]
본 발명에 따른 생리대는 제1티슈 시이트가 상면시이트에 가장 근접하게 위치하고 0.01 내지 0.1g/㎠의 밀도를 갖고, 제2티슈시이트가 보유층에 가장 근접하게 위치하고 0.08 내지 0.3g/㎤의 밀도를 갖고, 제1 및 제2티슈 시이트사이의 밀도차가 0.01 내지 0.2g/㎤임을 특징으로한다.
상부 및 하부 티슈 시이트사이의 밀도구배로 인하여 더욱 낮고 조밀한 티슈 시이트의 더욱 작은 두께에 의해서 발생하는 흡입에 의해서 상부 티슈 시이트로부터 액체가 신속하게 배출된다. 이로인하여 상부 티슈 시이트는 신속하게 비워지고 연속적으로 분출되는 액체를 수용할 수 있기 때문에, 상면시이트를 통과하여 흡수코어중으로 흡수되는 유체의 속도가 증가한다. 티슈 시이트의 두께가 비교적 작기 때문에, 티슈 시이트의 밀도구배는 비교적 짧은 거리에 걸쳐 형성됨으로써 하부 티슈 시이트에 의해서 발생하는 액체에 대한 모세관 흡입은 상부 티슈 시이트의 두께 전체로 확장된다.
상부 티슈 시이트의 신속한 배수 및 이후로 연속하여 도입되는 액체를 상면시이트가 영구적으로 흡수할 수 있음으로써, 생리대의 흡수용량이 증가하는데, 여기서, "흡수용량"이란 액체가 생리대 주위를 통과하여 이동함으로써 얼룩이 생기기전의 흡수된 양을 의미한다.
하부 티슈 시이트에서, 액체는 측방향으로 분산되는데 하부층의 분산용량은 이러한 하부층이 고밀도이기 때문에 비교적 높다. 하부층중에 분산된 다음, 액체는 바람직하게는 흡수성 겔화물질을 함유하는 하부 보유층중에 흡수되고 보유된다.
미합중국 특허원 제2,787,271호로부터, 비교적 높은 흡수성능 및 낮은 밀도를 갖는 상부층, 및 고도로 압축된 하부층을 갖는 생리대가 공지되어 있다. 상부층은 높은 흡수성능과 착용자에 대해 부드러운 접촉표면을 제공하고 하부층은 유체 보유층으로서 작용한다.
독일연방공화국 특허원 제 40 24 053호로부터, 고밀도의 중앙층(0.05 내지 0.3g/㎤)이 그와 함께 단일 구조물을 형성하는 2개의 바깥쪽 저밀도층(0.005 내지 0.1g/㎤)사이에 샌드위치된 흡수제품이 알려져 있다. 열가소성 섬유와 에어 펠트의 혼합물로 구성된 층은 가열하에 바람직한 밀도로 압축시킨다. 이 제품은, 전해진 바에 의하면, 특히 약 2mm의 두께를 갖는 제품에 대해서 개선된 유체 흡수성, 유체 분산성 및 포획성을 나타낸다. 이러한 공지된 제품은 다수의 시이트를 보유층상에 위치시켜 티슈 시이트가 밀도구배를 형성시킴으로써 보유층을 향해 유체를 배출시키지 못한다.
영국 특허원 제 2 089 214호로부터, 0.03 내지 0.15g/㎤의 밀도를 갖는 상부층 및 0.4 내지 1.0g/㎤의 밀도를 갖는 압축된 셀룰로즈의 하부층을 갖는 생리대가 알려져 있다. 상부 흡수층과 비교적 조밀한 기층의 비교적 개방된 기공 구조물의 조합은 유체를 한정된 영역증의 상부층을 통해서 신속하게 이동시키고 하부 흡수층을 따라 우선적으로 흡수시킨다.
상기 구조물에서, 낮은 밀도를 갖는 상부층은 비교적 두껍고 유체를 보유하는 고밀도의 하부층과 착용자의 신체사이를 완출시켜 건조하고 편안한 촉감을 유지한다.

[바람직한 양태에 대한 상세한 설명]
본 발명은 여성용 생리대 및 특히 얇고 가요성을 갖고, 착용하기에 더욱 적합하고 편안하며 체액이 누출되는 것을 감소시킬 수 있는 생리대에 관한 것이다.
본원에 사용된 "생리대"란 신체로부터 배출되는 다양한 배설물(예를들면, 혈액, 생리혈 및 뇨)을 흡수하고 보유하며 일회사용후 버리는(즉, 세탁하거나 보관 또는 재사용하지 않는), 외음부 영역에 인접하여 여성이 착용하는 제품을 의미한다. 착용자의 엉덩이의 부분적으로 내부 및 부분적으로 외부에 위치하는 음순형 제품들도 또한 본 발명의 범위에 포함된다. 본원에 사용된, "외음부"란 외부에서 볼수 있는 여성생식기를 의미하고, 대음순, 소음순, 음핵 및 엉덩이에 제한된다.
본 발명의 생리대(10)의 바람직한 양태를 제1도 및 제2도중에 나타내었다. 제1도 및 제2도중에서 볼 수 있는 바와 같이, 바람직한 생리대(10)은 기본적으로 흡수코어(13)및 액체 불투과성 차단 수단(16)을 포함한다. 흡수코어(13)은 일반적으로 압축가능하고, 편안하고, 착용자의 피부에 자극을 주지 않고 생리혈, 혈액 및 뇨와 같은 신체 배설액을 흡수하고 보유하는 임의의 수단이다. 바람직하게는, 흡수코어(13)은 사용시 습윤될 경우에도 특성을 유지한다. 흡수코어(13)은 제1주표면(19)및 제2주표면(22)를 갖는다. 차단수단(16)은 흡수코어(13)의 제2주표면(22)에 인접하다. 차단수단(16)은 가요성 및 액체 불투과성을 갖고 흡수코어(13)중에 흡수되고 보유된 배설물이 팬티와 같은 생리대(10)과 접촉하는 제품을 습윤시키는 것을 방지한다.
제1도 및 제2도중에 나타낸 바람직한 실시양태에서, 흡수코어(13)은 액체 투과성 상면시이트(25), 비교적 저밀도의 액체 투과성 시이트(28), 비교적 고밀도의 티슈 시이트(31) 및 티슈 시이트(28)과 (31)보다 높은 밀도를 갖는 보유층(34)를 포함한다. 제1도 및 제2도중에 나타낸 바람직한 실시양태에서, 차단수단(16)은 차단 시이트이다. 보유층(34)는 2개의 공기-층형성된 티슈 시이트(40)과 (43)사이에 배치된 하이드록겔-형성 물질(37)을 포함한다. 생리대(10)은 함께 생리대(10)의 둘레(15)를 형성하는 측면 가장자리(11)과 말단 가장자리(12)를 갖는다. 생리대(10)은 일반적으로 상면시이트(25)에 의해서 한정된 신체 대향면(26)과 일반적으로 차단 시이트(16)에 의해서 한정된 가멘트 대향면(17)을 갖는다.
생리대(10)의 몇몇 부재들을 더욱 상세하게 살펴보면, 흡수코어(43)은 일반적으로 압축가능하고, 편안하고, 착용자의 피부에 자극을 주지않고 신체 배설물을 흡수하고 보유할 수 있는 임의의 수단일 수 있다. 흡수코어(13)은 제1주표면(46), 제2주표면(49), 한쌍의 말단 가장자리(52) 및 한쌍의 측면 가장자리(55)를 갖는다. 흡수코어(13)은 다양한 크기 및 형태(예를들면, 직사각형, 모래시계등)로 제조될 수도 있다. 흡수코어(13)의 바람직한 형태는 제1도중에 나타낸 개뼈 형태이다. 이러한 바람직한 흡수코어(13)은 약22.0cm의 길이(종방향 중심선(58)에 따른 종방향 길이), 약7.0cm의 중앙부분에서의 폭(측방향 중심선(61)에 따른 측방향 크기), 약8.0cm의 가장 넓은 부분에서의 폭(측방향 크기)을 갖는다. 이러한 실시양태에서 흡수코어(13)은 제작의 편이성을 위해 대칭적으로 구성되고, 따라서 착용자가 착용방향에 맞추기 위해 노력할 필요가 없으며, 또한 비대칭적으로 구성될 수도 있다. 중앙부분은 기본적으로 주름이 과다하게 형성되는 것을 방지하기 위해서 착용자의 넓적다리 및 착용자의 팬티의 더욱 얇은 가랑이 부분에 적합한 형태를 갖는다. 흡수코어(13)의 크기는 착용자가 그크기를 조절하고 또한 예측된 배설액의 부피에 맞추기 위해서 다양할 수도 있다.
흡수코어(13)은 그의 제1주표면(46)과 제2주표면(49)상에서 분무-접착, 또는 선형, 점형 또는 나선형 접착제와 같은 관련분야에 잘 알려진 임의의 수단에 의해서 상면시이트(25) 및 차단시이트(16)과 같은 인접한 요소에 접착될 수도 있다. 이러한 접착은 사용시 최적의 흡수성을 유지하기 위해서 흡수물질의 특성과 형태회복성을 개선시킨다. 바람직하게는, 흡수코어(13)은 교차방향에서 cm당 약 1N이상의 습윤-인장강도를 갖는다. 습윤-인장 강도는 ASTM 표준 D829-49(ASTM Standard D 829-49)에 의해 측정된다.
보유층(34)는 일회용 생리대, 기저귀 및 다른 흡수제품중에 통상적으로 사용되는 다양한 액상 흡수성 물질로부터 제조할 수도 있다. 적합한 흡수물질의 예는 일반적으로 에어펠트라고 불리는 분쇄된 나무펄프, 크레이핑된(creped) 셀룰로즈 웨딩(wadding), 흡수성 포옴, 흡수스폰지, 합성 스테이플 섬유, 중합체성 섬유, 하이드로겔-형성 중합체 겔화제, 또는 이러한 물질들의 배합물 또는 등가물을 포함한다. 특히 바람직한 흡수물질은 중합체성 겔화제이다. 중합체성 겔화제는 물 또는 체액과 같은 유체(즉, 액체)와 접촉시, 이러한 유체를 흡수하여 하이드로겔을 형성하는 물질이다. 이러한 방법에서, 흡수코어(34)중에 흡수된 유체는 중합체성 겔화제에 의해서 포획되고 보유됨으로써 개선된 흡수용량 및/또는 개선된 유체 보유 성능을 갖는 제품을 제공한다.
보유층(34)중에 사용되는 중합체성 겔화제는 일반적으로 실질적으로 수불용성의 약간 가교결합되고 부분적으로 중화된 하이드로겔-형성 중합체 물질을 포함한다. 이러한 중합체 물질은 중합가능한, 불포화된, 산-함유 단량체로부터 제조할 수 있다. 본 발명에 사용되는 중합체성 겔화제를 제조하는데 사용되는 적합한 불포화된, 산-함유 단량체는 본원에 참고로 인용된, 1987년 3월 31일자로 브랜트(Brandt), 골드맨(Goldman) 및 인글린(Inglin)에게 허여된 "Hydrogel-Forming Polymer Compositions For Use In Absorbent Structures"란 제목의 미합중국 특허 제4,654,039호중에 기재된 것들을 포함한다. 바람직한 단량체는 아크릴산, 메타크릴산 및 2-아크릴아미도-2-메틸프로판설폰산을 포함한다. 중합체성 겔화제 물질을 제조하는데 있어서 아크릴산이 특히 바람직하다.
하이드로겔-형성 중합체성 겔화제중에서, 불화포화된 산-함유 단량체로부터 형성된 중합체성 성분은 전분 또는 셀룰로즈와 같은 다른 형태의 중합체 잔기상으로 그라프트될 수도 있다. 이러한 형태의 폴리아크릴레이트 그라프트된 전분 물질이 본 발명에 사용하기에 특히 바람직하다.
통상적인 형태의 단량체로부터 제조할 수 있는 바람직한 중합체성 겔화제는 가수분해된 아크릴로니트릴 그라프트된 전분, 폴리아크릴레이트 그라프트된 전분, 폴리아크릴레이트, 말산 무수물계 공중합체 및 그의 혼합물을 포함한다. 특히 바람직한 중합체성 겔화제는 폴리아크릴레이트와 폴리아크릴레이트 그라프트된 전분이다.
본 발명의 보유층 (34)중에 사용된 하이드로겔-형성 중합체성 겔화제의 기질 중합체 성분의 특성에 관계없이, 이러한 물질은 일반적으로 약간 가교결합된다. 이러한 가교결합으로인하여 본 발명에 사용된 하이드로겔-형성 중합체성 겔화제는 실질적으로 수불용성을 갖게됨으로써, 가교결합은 사용된 중합체성 겔화제로부터 형성된 하이드로겔의 겔부피 및 얻을 수 있는 중합체 특성을 부분적으로 결정한다. 적합한 가교결합제는 관련분야에 공지되어 있고, 예를들면, 본원에 참고로 인용된, 마스다(Masuda)등에게 허여된 미합중국 특허 제4,076,663호중에 더욱 상세하게 기술된 것들을 포함한다. 바람직한 가교결합제는 불포화된 모노- 또는 폴리아크릴산과 폴리올의 디- 또는 폴리에스테르, 비스아크릴아미드 및 디- 또는 트리알릴아민이다. 특히 바람직한 가교결합제는 N,N'-메틸렌비스아크릴아미드, 트리메틸올 프로판 트리아크릴레이트 및 트리알릴아민이다. 기교결합제는 일반적으로 약 0.001 내지 5.0몰%의 생성 하이드로겔-형성 중합체 물질을 포함할 수 있다. 더욱 바람직하게는, 이러한 가교결합제는 약 0.01 내지 3.0몰%의 본 발명에 사용된 하이드로겔-형성 중합체성 겔화제를 포함한다.
본 발명의 제품중에 사용할 수도 있는 약간 가교결합된, 하이드로겔-형성 중합체성 겔화제는 일반적으로 부분적으로 중화된 형태로 사용한다. 본 발명의 목적을 위해서, 중합체를 형성시키기 위해서 사용된 단량체의 25.0 몰%이상, 바람직하게는 50.0 몰%이상이 염-형성 양이온으로 중화된 산기-함유 단량체일 경우, 이러한 물질은 부분적으로 중화된 것으로 생각된다. 적합한 염-형성 양이온은 알칼리 금속, 암모늄 치환된 암모늄 및 아민을 포함한다. 중화된 산기-함유 단량체인, 이러한 단량체의 전체 사용된 비율을 본원에서는 "중화도"라고 기술한다.
본 발명의 흡수제품중에 사용된 중합체성 겔화제 물질은 이러한 제품과 접촉하는 유체를 흡수하기 위해 비교적 높은 흡수용량을 가져야 한다. 이러한 물질의 흡수용량은 본 발명에 사용하기 위해서 선택된 중합체성 겔화제의 "겔부피"를 참고로 하여 정량할 수 있다.
본 발명의 목적을 위해서, 겔부피는 임의의 주어진 중합체성 겔화제에 의해 흡수된 합성뇨의 양으로 한정할 수 있고 중합체성 겔화제의 g당 합성뇨의 g으로 정의한다. 합성뇨증의 겔부피는 시험에 사용되는 약 20부의 합성뇨에 대해 약0.1 내지 0.2부의 건조된 중합체성 겔화제의 현탁액을 형성시킴으로써 측정할 수 있다. 이러한 현탁액은 팽윤 평형상태를 얻기 위해서, 예를들면, 약1시간의 충분한 시간동안 서서히 교반시키면서 주위온도에서 유지시킨다. 이어서, 중합체성 겔화제 g당 합성뇨의 g중의 중합체성 겔화제의 겔부피를 현탁액중의 중합체성 겔화제의 중량분획 및 형성된 하이드로겔로부터 제외된 액체 부피대 현탁액의 전체 부피의 비로부터 계산한다.
본 발명에서 보유층 (34)중에 사용된 겔화제의 겔부피는 일반적으로 중합체성 겔화제의 g당 합성뇨 약20.0g이상이다. 더욱 바람직하게는, 사용된 물질의 겔부피는 중합체성 겔화제의 g당 합성뇨 약 20.0 내지 약 35.0g이다.
보유층을 형성하는 웹, 또는 코어(34)중에서, 중합체성 겔화제의 입자는 완전히 분산되어야 하지만, 균일하게 분포되지 않을 수도 있다. 특히, 이러한 층들의 다른 영역 또는 대역보다 높은 겔화에 입자의 농도를 갖는 코어층의 영역 또는 대역이 존재할 수도 있다.
바람직한 실시양태에서, 본 발명의 생리대(10)은 생리대의 약 17.0㎠이상, 더욱 바람직하게는 생리대의 약50.0㎠이상, 가장 바람직하게는 코어의 전체 면적을 통해서 분포되는 하이드로겔-형성 중합체성 겔화제를 갖는다. 바람직하게는, 이러한 하이드로겔-형성 중합체성 겔화제는 ㎠당 약0.001 내지 약0.009g, 더욱 바람직하게는 ㎠당 약 0.003 내지 약 0.008g, 가장 바람직하게는 ㎠당 약 0.004 내지 약 0.007g의 양으로 분포된다. 바람직하게는, 이러한 흡수코어(34)는 약 5.0 내지 약 85.0중량%, 더욱 바람직하게는 약 10.0 내지 약 70.0중량%, 가장 바람직하게는 약 15 내지 약 55.0중량%의 하이드로겔-형성 중합체성 겔화제를 함유한다.
제2도에 나타낸 바람직한 실시양태에서, 보유층(34)는 2개의 공기-층형성된 티슈(40) 및 (43)사이에 배치된 초흡수성 중합체 물질(37)의 층을 포함하는 적층물이다. 적합한 적층물은 미합중국 아이오와 무스카틴(Iowa, Muscatin) 소재의 그레인 프로세싱 코포레이션(Grain Processing Corporation)사로부터 상표면 "워터-록 L-535(WATER-LOCK L-535)"로서 구입가능한 초흡수성 적층물이다. 이러한 초흡수성 적층물은 본원에 참고로 인용된, 1984년 8월 21일자로 페더슨(Pedersen)등에게 허여된 "흡수 필름용 조성물 및 그 제조방법(Composition For Absorbent Film And Method Of Preparation)"이란 제목의 미합중국 특허 제 4,467,012호, 및 1981년 4월 7일자로 린드세이(Lindsay)에게 허여된 "적층 흡수방법(Laminated Absorbent Process)"란 제목의 미합중국 특허 제4,260,443호중에 개시되어 있다. 상기 워터-록 L-535는 ㎠당 0.005g의 하이드로겔 중합체 충진량을 갖지만, 0.001 내지 0.009g/㎠의 충진량이 허용가능하다는 것이 밝혀졌다. 제1 및 제2티슈층(40) 및 (43)은 초흡수성 중합체 물질(37)을 함유하고, 흡수된 배설액의 보유층(34)를 통한 퍼짐을 개선시키고, 흡수성을 제공한다. 섬유상 시이트, 포옴 또는 필름의 형태를 가질 수 있는 비입상 하이드로겔-형성 중합체 겔화제의 경우, 비입상 겔화제는 약 15 내지 약 100중량%, 더욱 바람직하게는 약 40 내지 약 100중량%, 가장 바람직하게는 약 60 내지 약 100중량%의 보유층(34)를 포함할 수도 있다.
이러한 비입상 초흡수물질의 기본중량은 ㎠당 약 0.002 내지 약 0.028g, 더욱 바람직하게는 약 0.003 내지 약 0.018g, 가장 바람직하게는 약 0.004 내지 약 0.010g일 수도 있다. 보유층 (34)에 대한 2가지 적합한 시판용 비입상 흡수물질은 일본국 오사카 히가시 소재의 콜리 캄파니 리미티드(Choli Company, LTD)사로부터 상표명 "란실 F(Lanseal F)"로서 구입가능한 2중층 아크릴 섬유물질 및 미합중국 델라웨어 윌밍톤 소재의 헤르큘레스 인코포레이티드사로부터 상표면 "아쿠알론 C(AqualonC)"로서 구입가능한 카복시메틸셀룰로즈 섬유물질이다.
흡수코어(13)의 전체 흡수용량은 생리대(10)의 용도에 맞는 배설액 충진량에 적합하여야 한다. 또한, 흡수코어(13)의 흡수용량은 착용자가 예측하는 배설액 부피에 적합하게 변할 수도 있다. 예를들면, 생리대는 밤에 사용하는 것과 낮에 사용하는 것, 또는 10대의 소녀가 사용하는 것과 성인 여성이 사용하는 것에 따라 상이한 흡수용량을 가질 수도 있다.
본 발명의 범위는 어떤 초흡수물질도 갖지 않고 단지 부직물(이러한 부직물은 하기 정의되는 바와 같이, 두께 시험에 의해서 측정되는, 0.50mm미만의 두께를 갖는다)만이 덮혀져서 층형성된 중앙 보유층을 갖는 생리대를 포함한다는 것을 주목하여야 한다.
보유층(34)를 덮고있는 상이한 밀도의 2개의 티슈 시이트의 유체 분포에 대한 효과를 예시하기 위해서, 분배시험을 수행하였다. 이러한 분배시험의 방법 및 결과는 하기 더욱 상세하게 논의한다.

분배시험에 사용된 티슈 시이트의 조합은 AGH, BFI, CDE 및 JDD이었다.
구조물 JDD는 미합중국 특허원 제5,009,653호중에 기술된 것과 유사하고, 여기서, J형의 티슈는 제3도의 (29)로 나타낸 개방된 망상구조이었다.
1 각각의 티슈를 페이퍼 인더스트리얼 플루이드(Paper Industrial Fluid)중에 20분동안 침지시킨 다음, 각각의 티슈상에 35g/㎠의 압력을 2분동안 균일하게 적용시켜 각각의 티슈의 흡수용량을 측정하였다.

2 각각의 티슈를 10.2cm×10.2cm의 패치로 절단하고, 이를 0.001g의 정확도로 계량하였다. 3개의 패치를 각각 겹쳐놓아 4개의 상이한 층형성된 구조물 AGH, BFI, CDE 및 JDD를 얻었다. 각각의 층형성된 구조물을 중앙에 15mm×3.5mm의 타원형 홀을 갖는 10.2cm×10.2cm 표면의 플렉시유리판으로 덮었다. 티슈상에 35g/㎠의 압력을 적용시키기 위해서 3636g의 중량을 플렉시유리판에 적용하였다.
3 구조물중의 각각의 단일층의 이론적인 흡수용량을 합하여 각각의 층형성된 구조물의 이론적인 총 흡수용량을 계산하였다.
4 피펫을 사용하여 상기 계산된 층형성된 구조물의 총 흡수용량의 5%를 최상부층상에 침적시켰다. 유체를 침적시키고 3분후, 각각의 층을 계량하였다.
5 추가로 5%를 침적시켜 각각의 층형성된 구조물의 총 흡수용량의 10%에 도달하고 이러한 페이퍼 인더스트리얼 플루이드를 3분동안 침적시킨후 각각의 층을 다시 계량하였다. 이러한 과정을 반복하여 구조물의 전체 흡수용량의 20%, 30%, 50%, 70%, 90% 및 100%에 도달하게 하였다. 유체를 추가로 침적시킬때마다 3분간 방치하고 이어서 1분내에 각각의 층을 계량하였다.
각각의 층형성구조물에 대해 3개의 샘플을 사용하여 상기 과정을 반복하고 그결과를 3개의 샘플에 대해 평균치로 나타내었다.
제6도 및 제7도에 나타낸 바와 같은 측정결과는 전체 층 형성된 구조물의 포화비율에 대한 상부 또는 기부층의 포화비율이다. 측정동안에 액체의 손실을 측정하기 위해서, 각각의 층중에 존재하는 액체의 양의 합을 시험의 마지막에서 흡수된 최종적인 실제 양으로 나눔으로써 전체 층형성된 구조물의 포화비율에 대한 양태를 각각 측정하였다.
제6도로부터, 티슈 JDD로 구성된, 공지된 참조용 층형성된 구조물의 하부층은 더욱 낮은 포화량을 갖는다는 것을 알 수 있다. "J"로 표시된 "파이버렐라(Fiberella)" 상부층은 약 1㎟의 메쉬크기를 갖고 스트랜드의 위치에서 비교적 높은(약 0.1g/㎤) 밀도를 갖는 망상 패브릭이다. 이러한 형태의 티슈는 흡수코어를 가로질러 액체가 측방향으로 퍼지는 속도를 가속시키는데 유용하다. 제6도 및 제7도로부터, 2개의 층(이중에서 보유층과 가장 가까운 층은 더욱 높은 밀도를 갖는다)에 의해서 덮혀진 흡수성 보유층(구조물 AGH, BFI 및 CDE)은 미합중국 특허원 제5,009,653호로부터 알려진 바와 같은 2개의 층으로 덮혀진 보유층(구조물 JDD)보다 많은 양의 유체를 흡수하고, 따라서, 기부층의 효율이 증가한다는 것을 알 수 있다. 제7도로부터, 구조물 AGH, BFI 및 CDE에서, 상부층은 그아래에 위치하는 더욱 조밀한 층에 의해서 액체가 배출되기 때문에 더욱 적은 양의 액체를 보유하고, 재습윤되는 가능성이 감소한다는 것을 알 수 있다.
액체 투과성 상면시이트(25)는 티슈 시이트(22) 및 (31)상에 겹쳐진다. 바람직한 실시양태에서, 상면시이트(25)는 상면시이트(25)를 시이트(28)의 표면에 분무-접착시킴으로써 상부 티슈와 결합시킨다. 상면시이트(25)는 유연하고, 부드러운 촉감을 갖고, 착용자의 피부에 자극을 주지 않는다. 또한, 상면시이트(25)는 액체 투과성이고, 그의 두께를 통해서 액체가 용이하게 이동한다. 적합한 상면시이트(25)는 중합체성 물질, 성형된 열가소성 필름, 천공된 플라스틱 필름, 다공정 포옴, 망상 포옴, 천연섬유(예를들면, 나무 또는 면섬유), 합성섬유(예를들면, 폴리에스테르 또는 폴리프로필렌 섬유)와 같은 광범위한 물질로부터 제조할 수도 있거나 또는 천연 및 합성섬유의 배합물로부터 제조할 수 있는데, 이중에서 천공된 성형 필름이 바람직하다. 상면시이트(25)로는 상면시이트가 액체 투과성이고 비흡수성이기 때문에 성형된 필름이 바람직하다. 따라서, 신체와 접촉하는 성형된 필름의 표면은 건조된 상태를 유지함으로써 신체가 더럽혀지는 것을 감소시키고 착용자에게 더욱 편안한 촉감을 부여한다. 적합한 성형된 필름은 본원에 참고로 인용된, 1975년 12월 30일자로 톰슨(Thompson)에게 허여된, "Absorptive Structure Having Tapered Capillaries"란 제목의 미합중국 특허 제3,929,135호; 1982년 4월 13일자로 뮬란(Mullane) 및 스미스(Smith)에게 허여된, "Disposable Absorbent Article Having A Stain Resistant Topsheet"란 제목의 미합중국 특허 제 4,324,246호; 1982년 8월 3일자로 레이들(Radel) 및 톰슨에게 허여된, 'Resilient Plastic Web Exhibiting Fiber-Like Properties"란 제목의 미합중국 특허 4,342,314호; 및 1984년 7월 31일자로 아르(Ahr), 루이스(Louis), 뮬랸 및 월렛(Ouellete)에게 허여된, "Macroscopically Expanded Three-Dimensional Plastic Web Exhibiting Non-Glossy Visible Surface and Cloth-Like Tactile Impression"이란 제목의 미합중국 특허 제 4,463,045호중에 기술되어 있다.
본 발명의 바람직한 실시양태에서, 상면시이트(25)의 신체 대향면(26)은 친수성이다. 이러한 친수성 신체 대향면(26)은 신체 대향면(26)이 친수성이 아닐경우보다 상면시이트(25)를 통해서 유체를 더욱 빠르게 이동시킨다. 이는 생리혈이 흡수코어(13)에 의해서 흡수되기보다 상면시이트(25)로부터 유동할 수 있는 가능성을 감소시킨다. 바람직한 실시양태에서, 상면시이트(25)의 신체 대향면(26)은 신체 대향면(26)을 계면활성제로 처리함으로써 친수성을 갖도록 제조된다. 계면활성제는 상면시이트(25)의 신체 대향면(26)을 통해서 실질적으로 균일하고 완전히 분포되는 것이 바람직하다. 이는 관련분야의 숙련인에게 잘 알려진 통상적인 기술에 의해서 수행할 수 있다. 예를들면, 계면활성제는 분무, 패딩(padding), 또는 운송률에 의해서 상면시이트(25)에 적용시킬 수 있다. 또한, 계면활성제는 성형된 필름의 중합체성 물질을 상면시이트중으로 혼입시킬 수 있거나 또는 부직물 상면시이트의 섬유사이에 또는 섬유중에 혼입시킬 수 있다.
차단수단(16)은 흡수코어(13)의 제2주표면(22)에 인접하게 위치한다. 바람직한 실시양태에서, 흡수코어(13)은 흡수코어(13)의 제2주표면(22)상에서 차단수단(16)에 결합될 수도 있다. 이러한 목적을 위하여, 분무-접착, 나선형, 선형 또는 점형 접착제와 같이, 관련분야의 숙련인에게 잘 알려진 일반적인 기술을 사용할 수도 있다. 차단수단(16)은 일반적으로 생리대(10)의 가멘트 표면(17)을 한정한다. 차단수단(16)은 액체 불투과성이고 흡수코어(13)중에 흡수되고 보유되는 배설물이 생리대(10)의 가멘트 대향면(17)과 접촉하는, 팬티와 같은 제품에 얼룩을 묻히는 것을 방지한다. 제1도 및 제2도중에 예시된 생리대(10)의 바람직한 실시양태에서, 차단수단(16)은 얇은 플라스틱 필름으로 제조된 차단시이트이다. 다른 가용성 액체 불투과성 물질도 또한 사용할 수도 있다. 바람직하게는, 차단시이트(16)은 약 0.012 내지 약 0.051mm의 두께를 갖는 폴리에틸렌 필름이다. 본원에 사용된 "가요성"이란 부드럽고 인체의 일반적인 형태에 용이하게 일치하는 물질의 특성을 의미한다.
적합한 폴리에틸렌 필름은 몬산토 케미칼 코포레이션(Monsanto Chemical Corporation)사에 의해서 상표면 "필름(Film) No. 8020"으로 시판된다. 차단시이트(16)은 바람직하게는 엠모싱되고/되거나 매트(matte) 처리되어 더욱 천과 유사한(clothlike)외관을 제공한다.
또한, 차단시이트(16)은 증기는 흡수코어(13)으로부터 배출시키지만 배설물이 차단시이트(16)을 통과하는 것을 방지한다.
바람직하게는, 상면시이트(25) 및 차단시이트(16)은 그들이 적절한 방법으로 함께 결합되어 있는 흡수코어(13)의 가장자리(52)와 (55)를 넘어 신장될 수 있도록 흡수코어(13)보다 일반적으로 긴 길이와 큰 폭을 갖는다. 본원에 사용된 "결합된"이란 제1부재가 제2부재에 직접 결합된 형태 및 제1부재를 중간부재에 결합시키고 중간부재를 제2부재에 결합시킴으로써 제1부재를 간접적으로 제2부재에 결합시킨 형태를 포함한다. 상면시이트(25) 및/또는 차단시이트(16)은 흡수코어(13)의 말단 가장자리(52) 및 측면 가장자리(55)를 넘어 신장됨으로써 각각 생리대(10)의 말단 가장자리(11)과 측면 가장자리(12)를 형성한다. 하나의 실시양태에서, 차단시이트(16)과 상면시이트(25)는 타원형이고 흡수코어(13)을 넘어 약 1.0cm이상으로 신장되어 여기서, 관련분야에 공지된 부착수단에 의해서 서로 직접 결합된다. 이러한 부착수단은 예를들면, 패턴을 갖는 접착제, 또는 분리된 선 또는 점의 배열로 적용된 접착제의 균일한 연속층이거나, 또는 열 및 압력 접착일 수도 있다.
본 발명의 생리대(10)은 낮은 내굴곡성을 갖는다. 따라서, 본 발명의 생리대(10)은 높은 가요성을 갖고 여성의 생식기 영역의 다양한 형태에 매우 양호하게 일치한다. 바람직하게는, 본 발명의 생리대(10)은 약 300.0g미만, 더욱 바람직하게는 약 250.0g미만, 더욱 바람직하게는 약 175.0g미만, 가장 바람직하게는 약 160g미만의 내굴곡성을 갖는다.
생리대의 내굴곡성은 피이크(peak) 휨 경도에 의해서 측정한다. 피이크 휨 경도는 미합중국 특허원 제 5,009,653호중에 상세하게 기술된 바와 같이, "ASTM D 4032.82 CIRCULAR BEND PROCEDURE"를 모델로하는 시험에 의해서 측정한다.
상기 언급된 바와 같이, 본 발명의 생리대(10)은 중간 내지 다량의 생리혈을 충분히 흡수하는 액체 흡수용량을 갖는다. 생리대의 크기에 따라, 시험 흡수용량과 전체 흡수용량이 같을 수도 있다. 바람직하게는, 본 발명의 생리대(10)은 약8.0g이사, 더욱 바람직하게는 약15.0g이상, 가장 바람직하게는 약 18.0g이상의 시험 흡수용량을 갖는다.
바람직하게는, 본 발명의 생리대(10)은 약 20.0g이상, 더욱 바람직하게는 약 30.0g이상, 가장 바람직하게는 약 40.0g이상의 전체 흡수용량을 갖는다.
생리대의 시험 흡수용량과 전체 흡수용량은 하기와 같이 측정한다. 제거된 임의의 팬티 접착성 이형지가 시험될 생리대를 형성한다. 생리대의 시험 흡수용량을 측정하기 위해서, 66.5㎠의 면적을 갖는 4.75×14.0cm의 부분을 생리대가 착용되는 질구(vaginal orifice)아래를 중심으로하는 생리대의 부분으로부터 절단한다. 모든 이형지를 제거한 생리대를 사용하여 전체 흡수용량을 측정한다. 이제품을 약 0.1g까지 계량한다. 이어서, 제품을 미합중국 일리노이, 디어필드 소재의 박스터 트라베놀 캄파니(Baxter Travenol Company)로부터 구입할 수 있는) 무균 식염수가 담긴 비이커중에 접혀지거나 꼬이지 않도록 완전히 침지시킨다. 이제품을 10분동안 침지시킨다. 이제품을 염수로부터 꺼내고 수직으로 세운 상태에서 2분동안 걸어두어 염수가 떨어지도록 한다. 이어서, 제품을 미합중국 펜실바니아 마운트 흘리 스프링스(Pa. Mount Holly Springs)소재의 필트레이션 사이언스 코포레이션, 이톤-디크맨 디비젼(Filtration Science Corp., Eaton-Dikeman Division)으로부터 구입가능한 필터지 #631과 같은 흡수성 압지상에 신체 대향면이 아래를 향하도록 위치시킨다. ㎠당 17.6g의 하중을 제품상으로 균일하게 적용하여 과량의 유체를 압착하여 제거한다. 흡수성 압지로 이동한 유체의 양이 30초동안 0.5g미만이 될때까지 매 30초마다 흡수성 압지를 대체한다. 이어서, 제품의 건조 중량을 약0.1g까지 계량한다.
본 발명의 생리대(10)에 있어서, 가요성이 요구되기 때문에, 생리대(10)은 비교적 얇을 수 있다. 본 발명의 생리대(10)이 유연하여 이를 착용할 경우 착용자가 신경을 덜 쓰도록 본 발명의 생리대(10)은 얇은 것이 바람직하다. 제1도 및 제2도에 나타낸 생리대(10)은 약 1.9mm의 두께를 갖는다. 생리대(10)의 두께는 하기 시험에 의해서 측정한다.
콤퍼레이터 게이지(comparator gauge), 특히 미합중국 매사추세츠 월탐 소재의 비. 씨. 암스, 캄파나(B. C. Ames, Company)사로부터 구입가능한, 다이알 인디케이터 모델 482를 갖는 암스, 모델 130이 필요하다. 이러한 콤퍼레이터 게이지는 알루미늄으로 제조되고 10.0g의 중량 및 516㎠의 접촉표면을 갖는 원형 콤퍼레이터 풋(foot)을 갖는다. 콤퍼레이터 게이지의 영점을 맞춘다. 80.0g의 스테인레스 스틸 중량을 콤퍼레이터 다이알상에 뻗어있는 스핀들상에 놓는다. 콤퍼레이터 풋을 올리고, 모든 접착성 이형지를 제거한 생리대를 기판상에 가멘트 대향면이 아래를 향하도록 놓는다. 풋이 내려갈 경우 생리대의 중앙에 놓이도록 생리대를 기판상에 위치시킨다. 생리대를 펴고 주름이 형성되는 것을 방지한다. 풋을 서서히 생리대상으로 내린다. 풋이 생리대와 접촉하고 30초후 콤퍼레이터 다이알을 읽어 생리대의 두께를 측정한다. 3.0cm를 반복하여 측정함으로써 생리대의 종방향 중심선(58)을 따라 흡수물질의 각각의 말단을 형성시킨다. 3회의 측정치를 평균하여 생리대의 두께를 얻는다. 바람직하게는, 본 발명의 생리대(10)은 약3.5mm미만, 더욱 바람직하게는 약2.5mm미만, 가장 바람직하게는 약 2.0mm미만의 두께를 갖는다.
본 발명의 생리대(10)의 또다른 실시양태를 제4도에 나타내었다. 이러한 실시양태에서, 생리대(10)은 각각이 흡수코어(13)의 측면 가장자리(55)에 인접하고 그로부터 측방향으로 신장되는 2개의 플랩(flap)(70)을 갖는다. 플랩(70)은 착용자의 팬티의 가장자리와 착용자의 대퇴부사이에 위치하도록 가랑이 영역중에서 착용자의 팬티의 가장자리상으로 걸쳐지는 형태를 갖는다. 이러한 플랩(70)은 2가지이상의 목적을 갖는다. 제1용도에서, 플랩(70)은 생리혈이 착용자의 신체와 팬티를 더럽히는 것을 방지한다. 제2용도에서, 플랩(70)은 바람직하게는 팬티아래로 접고 팬티의 가멘트 대향면에 부착시킬 수 있도록 그의 가멘트 대향면(17)상에 부착수단(71)이 제공된다. 이러한 방법에서, 플랩(70)은 생리대(10)을 팬티중에 적절하게 위치시킨 상태로 유지시키는 작용을 한다. 바람직한 부착수단(71)은 관련분야에 공지된 감압 접착재이다. 경우에 따라서, 플랩(70)은 팬티에 부착시키지 않고 부착수단(71)에 의해서 팬티의 아래에서 서로 부착시킬 수도 있다.
본 발명의 생리대와 함께 사용하기에 적합한 플랩을 갖는 다수의 생리대가 공지되어 있다. 이러한 플랩은 본원에 참고로 인용된, 1987년 8월 18일자로 반 틸버그(Van Tilburg)에게 허여된, "플랩을 갖는 성형 생리대(Shaped Sanitary Napkin With Flaps)"란 명칭의 미합중국 특허 제4,687,478호; 1986년 8월 26일자로 매팅리(Mattingly)에게 허여된, "부착수단을 갖는 생리대(Sanitary Napkin Attachment Means)"란 명칭의 미합중국 특허 제4,608,047호; 1986년 5월20일자로 반 틸버그에게 허여된, "생리대(Sanitary Napkin)"란 명칭의 미합중국 특허 제4,589,876호; 및 1981년 8월 25일자로 맥네어(McNair)에게 허여된, "생리대"란 명칭의 미합중국 특허 제4,285,343호중에 개시되어 있다.
본 발명의 생리대(10)의 또다른 실시양태를 제5도에 나타내었다. 제4도에 나타낸 생리대(10)과 같이, 이러한 생리대(10)도 또한 단지 형태만 상이한 플랩(70)을 갖는다. 이러한 실시양태에서, 플랩(70)은 단지 상면시이트(25) 및 차단시이트(55)로만 구성된다.

Claims (9)

  1. 액체 투과성 상면시이트, 액체 불투과성 배면시이트 및 5mm미만의 두께를 갖는 흡수코어를 갖는 생리대에 있어서,
    상기 흡수모어가 흡수성 물질의 보유층, 및 상기 상면시이트와 보유층 사이에 위치한 제1 및 제2티슈시이트를 포함하고,
    상기 제1티슈시이트가 상기 상면시이트에 가장 근접하게 위치하고 0.01 내지 0.1g/㎤의 밀도를 갖고,
    상기 제2티슈시이트가 상기 보유층에 가장 근접하게 위치하고 0.08 내지 0.3g/㎤의 밀도를 가지며, 상기 제1 및 제2티슈시이트 사이의 밀도차가 0.01 내지 0.2g/㎤임을 특징으로 하는 생리대.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 하나 이상의 추가의 티슈시이트가 제1 및 제2티슈시이트 사이에 위치하고, 이러한 하나 이상의 추가의 티슈시이트의 밀도가 제1티슈시이트의 밀도보다는 높고 제2 티슈시이트의 밀도보다는 낮음을 특징으로 하는 생리대.
  3. 제2항에 있어서, 상기한 밀도를 갖는 2개이상의 추가의 티슈시이트가 제1 및 제2티슈시이트 사이에 배치되고, 이러한 상면시이트에 근접하게 위치한 추가의 티슈시이트의 밀도가 보유층에 근접하게 위치한 추가의 티슈시이트의 밀도보다 낮음을 특징으로하는 생리대.
  4. 제3항에 있어서, 상기 보유층이 흡수성 겔화 물질의 층이 삽입된 2개의 보유 티슈시이트의 적층물을 포함함을 특징으로 하는 생리대.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 보유층이 흡수성 겔화 물질의 층이 삽입된 2개의 보유 티슈시이트의 적층물을 포함함을 특징으로 하는 생리대.
  6. 제1항 내지 제5항중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 흡수코어의 두께가 3mm 미만이고, 티슈시이트의 두께가 0.1 내지 1mm임을 특징으로 하는 생리대.
  7. 제1항 내지 제5항중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 흡수코어의 두께가 3mm미만이고, 티슈시이트의 두께가 0.2 내지 0.5mm임을 특징으로 하는 생리대.
  8. 액체 투과성 상면시이트; 상면시이트에 부착된 액체 불투과성 배면시이트; 및 상면시이트와 배면시이트 사이에 위치하고
    i) 두께를 갖고 상면시이트에 근접하게 위치하며 0.01g/㎤ 내지 0.1g/㎤의 밀도를 갖는 제1티슈시이트;
    ii) 두께를 갖고 제1티슈시이트에 근접하여 아래에 위치하며 0.08g/㎤ 내지 0.3g/㎤의 밀도를 갖는 제2티슈시이트(이때, 제1 및 제2티슈시이트 사이의 밀도차는 0.01 내지 0.2g/㎤이다);
    iii) 제1티슈시이트에 스며든 유체가 하부의 조밀한 제2티슈시이트의 작은 모세관이 만드는 흡입에 의해 제1티슈시이트로부터 배출되도록 하는, 서로 근접하여 위치하는 제1티슈시이트와 제2티슈시이트 사이에 형성된 밀도구배; 및
    iv) 제2티슈시이트와 액체 불투과성 배면시이트 사이에 위치하고, 제1티슈시이트와 제2티슈시이트에 의해 형성된 밀도 구배에 의해 배출된 유체를 저장하는 보유층을 갖는 흡수코어를 포함하는 생리대.
  9. 제8항에 있어서, 상기 보유층이 흡수성 겔화 물질의 층이 삽입된 2개의 보유 티슈시이트의 적층물을 포함하는 생리대.
