Abstract
Description
(1)二次電池500および切り欠き部に配置された基板600は、振動などによって、相互に位置ズレするため、二次電池500と基板600との電気的接続が失われたり、かつ/または二次電池500および基板600が相互に損傷を与え合うという問題があった。
(2)間隙xの確保により、外部端子505がその分だけ長くなり、二次電池のインピーダンスが増大するため、二次電池の発熱の影響を十分に低減できなかった。
(3)間隙xは二次電池にとってのデットスペースとなるため、二次電池の薄型化、小型化および高容量化には不利であった。
正極、負極および該正極と該負極との間に配置されたセパレータを含む電極組立体および電解質が外装体に封入された二次電池であって、
前記二次電池が平面視において切り欠き部を備えた形状を有し、
前記二次電池は、該二次電池が有する平面視形状における周縁領域のうち、前記二次電池と前記切り欠き部との境界線と接続する線分を一辺として含む周縁部にシール部を有し、
該シール部が前記二次電池の厚み方向に折り曲げ可能となっており、
前記シール部が折り曲げられたときに形成される折曲シール部における切り欠き部側の端部が、前記切り欠き部に配置される基板に対するストッパー部となる、二次電池に関する。
本発明は二次電池を提供する。本明細書中、「二次電池」という用語は充電および放電の繰り返しが可能な電池のことを指している。「二次電池」は、その名称に過度に拘泥されるものではなく、例えば、「蓄電デバイス」なども包含し得る。

電極組立体は、例えば、図7A、図7Bおよび図7Cに示すように、正極1、負極2およびセパレータ3を含み、正極1と負極2とがセパレータ3を介して交互に配置されている。2つの外部端子は通常、集電リードを介して電極(正極または負極)に連結され、結果としてシール部から外部に導出されている。これらの図において、電極組立体は、正極1、負極2および正極1と負極2との間に配置されたセパレータ3を含む複数の電極ユニット(電極構成層)を平面状に積層した平面積層構造を有している。電極組立体の構造は平面積層構造に限定されず、例えば、正極1、負極2および正極1と負極2との間に配置されたセパレータ3を含む電極ユニット(電極構成層)をロール状に巻回した巻回構造(ジェリーロール型)を有していてもよい。また例えば、電極組立体は、正極、セパレータ、負極を長いフィルム上に積層してから折りたたんだ、いわゆるスタックアンドフォールディング型構造を有していてもよい。
具体的な非水電解質の溶質としては、例えば、LiPF6およびLiBF4などのLi塩が好ましく用いられる。
基板60はいわゆるリジッド基板であってもよいし、またはフレキシブル基板であってもよい。好ましくはリジッド基板である。リジッド基板を用いた場合、デットスペースの形成や当該基板による二次電池の損傷が問題となりやすいところ、本発明においてリジッド基板を用いた場合においても、そのような問題を十分に回避できるためである。リジッド基板としては、二次電池とともに使用される基板の分野で使用されるあらゆるリジッド基板が使用可能であり、例えば、ガラス・エポキシ樹脂基板が挙げられる。

Claims (19)
- 正極、負極および該正極と該負極との間に配置されたセパレータを含む電極組立体および電解質が外装体に封入された二次電池であって、
前記二次電池が平面視において切り欠き部を備えた形状を有し、
前記二次電池は、該二次電池が有する平面視形状における周縁領域のうち、前記二次電池と前記切り欠き部との境界線と接続する線分を一辺として含む周縁部にシール部を有し、
該シール部が前記二次電池の厚み方向に折り曲げ可能となっており、
前記シール部が折り曲げられたときに形成される折曲シール部における切り欠き部側の端部が、前記切り欠き部に配置される基板に対するストッパー部となる、二次電池。 - 前記折曲シール部における切り欠き部側の端部が切り欠き部に向けて突出している、請求項1に記載の二次電池。
- 前記折曲シール部の高さh1および前記基板の高さh2は以下の関係式を満たす、請求項1または2に記載の二次電池:
h1≧h2。 - 前記折曲シール部が、前記切り欠き部側の端部において、前記基板と結合される、請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記外装体が可塑性シートから構成されている、請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記二次電池は、該二次電池が有する平面視形状における周縁領域のうち、前記二次電池と前記切り欠き部との境界線を含む周縁部にシール部を有し、
前記二次電池は、前記境界線を含む周縁部のシール部の少なくとも一部が基板の端部と重複するように配置される、請求項1〜5のいずれかに記載の二次電池。 - 前記境界線を含む周縁部のシール部における前記基板による重複面積の割合は50%以上である、請求項6に記載の二次電池。
- 前記境界線が1つ以上の直線、1つ以上の曲線またはこれらの組み合わせを含む、請求項1〜7のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記切り欠き部形成前の二次電池が四角形状を有し、
前記切り欠き部が、前記切り欠き部形成前の二次電池と2つの辺を共有するように配置されている、請求項1〜8のいずれかに記載の二次電池。 - 前記二次電池が2つの外部端子をさらに備え、
該2つの外部端子は基板と電気的に接続される、請求項1〜9のいずれかに記載の二次電池。 - 前記外部端子が前記境界線を含む周縁部のシール部から前記切り欠き部に向けて突出して設けられている、請求項10に記載の二次電池。
- 前記外装体がフレキシブルパウチである、請求項1〜11のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記電極組立体が、前記正極、前記負極および前記セパレータを含む複数の電極ユニットを平面状に積層した平面積層構造を有するか、または前記正極、前記負極および前記セパレータを含む電極ユニットをロール状に巻回した巻回構造を有する、請求項1〜12のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記基板がリジッド基板またはフレキシブル基板である、請求項1〜13のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記基板が保護回路基板である、請求項1〜14のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記正極および前記負極がリチウムイオンを吸蔵放出可能な層を有する、請求項1〜15のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 請求項1〜16のいずれかに記載の前記二次電池;および
前記切り欠き部に配置された基板を含む、デバイス。 - 前記基板が保護回路基板であり、
前記デバイスが二次電池パックである、請求項17に記載のデバイス。 - 前記デバイスがモバイル機器である、請求項17または18に記載のデバイス。
