Abstract
Description
図1は、本発明の一実施の形態におけるプラズマディスプレイ装置に用いるパネル10の構造を示す分解斜視図である。ガラス製の前面基板21上には、走査電極22と維持電極23とからなる表示電極対24が複数形成されている。そして、走査電極22と維持電極23とを覆うように誘電体層25が形成され、その誘電体層25上に保護層26が形成されている。

Claims (4)
- 1フィールドをあらかじめ輝度重みが設定された複数のサブフィールドで構成するとともに、発光するサブフィールドと非発光のサブフィールドとの組合せが異なる複数の組合せの中から階調の表示に用いる組合せを複数選択して表示用組合せ集合を作成し、前記表示用組合せ集合に属する組合せの中から画像信号にもとづき1つの組合せを選択し、選択された前記組合せを用いて放電セルの発光・非発光をサブフィールド毎に制御してプラズマディスプレイパネルに階調を表示するプラズマディスプレイ装置の駆動方法であって、
組合せの数が異なる複数の表示用組合せ集合を設定し、
特定の色の画像信号を除く画像信号の大きさが所定の閾値以上であるかどうかを判断するとともに、前記判断の結果にもとづき前記特定の色の画像信号に用いる表示用組合せ集合を前記複数の表示用組合せ集合から選択し、
前記特定の色の画像信号を除く画像信号の大きさが前記所定の閾値以上であるときに、前記特定の色の画像信号用として選択する表示用組合せ集合は、前記特定の色の画像信号を除く画像信号の大きさが前記所定の閾値未満であるときに前記特定の色の画像信号用として選択する表示用組合せ集合よりも、組合せの数が少ない
ことを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイ装置の駆動方法。 - 前記複数の表示用組合せ集合のそれぞれは、特定のサブフィールドで発光しない放電セルは、前記特定のサブフィールド以降のサブフィールドでも発光しない、という規則を有する表示用組合せ集合であって、
前記組合せの数が少ない方の表示用組合せ集合における前記特定のサブフィールドの数は、前記組合せの数が多い方の表示用組合せ集合における前記特定のサブフィールドの数よりも多い
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置の駆動方法。 - 前記特定の色の画像信号は、青の画像信号である
ことを特徴とする請求項1または請求項2に記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置の駆動方法。 - 前記組合せの数が少ない方の表示用組合せ集合における前記特定のサブフィールドは、フィールドの最初に配置されたサブフィールドと2番目に配置されたサブフィールドと3番目に配置されたサブフィールドとを含む
ことを特徴とする請求項2に記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置の駆動方法。
