Abstract

PURPOSE:To secure a highly effective working cycle and to improve the throughput of a processor by prolonging the working cycle time of the processor via the expansion control of the system width and performing the wait control. CONSTITUTION:An input wait command signal W is sampled by a latch circuit 3 at the leading edge of a system clock signal f1 and a latch output w' is obtained. A selector 7 selects a 1/10 frequency dividing output f2 in response to the output w' and the working cycle of a processor is extended by (5/4)T based on the signal f1. The circuit 3 is reset by the output of a 1/2 dividing circuit 8 and the output w' is inverted in the 2nd cycle of an extended clock f2. Then the selector 7 outputs the inverted output of the signal f1, i.e., the output of a selector 5. Thus the pulse width of the signal f1 is extended by half cycle in response to a wait pointing signal (w).
