Abstract

PURPOSE:To aim at optimization of afterburning by controlling opening/closing of an intake throttle valve, on regeneration of a trap, according to an oxygen concentration sensor mounted on a trap inlet side. CONSTITUTION:An oxygen concentration sensor 30 is mounted on the inlet side of a particulate trap 3. On regeneration of the trap 3, the opening/closing of an intake throttle valve 31 is controlled according to the output of the sensor 30, to suppress the temperature of the trap 3 ranging from an upper to lower limit. Thus, it is possible to supply the exhaust gas having optimal oxygen concentration so as to optimally perform afterburning.
