Abstract

PURPOSE:To use the title zinc sulfate electroplating bath in high-current density rapid plating and to stably form a semi-lustrous or lustrous plating surface by incorporating a specified amt. of the soluble cationic polymer having a specified structural unit into the bath. CONSTITUTION:The soluble cationic polymer having the structural unit shown by formula I or II is incorporated into the zinc sulfate electroplating bath to the extent of 0.1-5g/l. In formulas I and II, R1-R8 are a hydrogen atom., a methyl group, or an ethyl group, A, B, D, and E are a 1-6C alkylene group, and X1-X4 are an inorg. anionic group or an org. anionic group having a <=4C alkyl group. The cationic polymer as a brightening agent is preferably incorporated into the bath to the extent of about 0.1-5g/l. The semi-lustrous or lustrous plating surface having excellent smoothness and workability can be provided even at the high cathode current density of about 200-300A/dm<2>.
