Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily produce the title Al alloy material by rapidly melting the surface part of an Al alloy having a specified composition, and then rapidly solidifying the melt. CONSTITUTION:An Al alloy contg., by weight, 3-50% of >=1 kind among 0.01-50% Ni, 0.01-50% Mn, 0.01-30% Fe, 0.01-50% Ti, 0.01-10% V, 0.01-50% Cr, 0.01-10% Zr, 0.01-10% Nb, 0.01-10% Mo, 0.01-10% Hf, 0.01-10% Ta, and 0.01-10% W and the balance Al is used. The surface part of the Al alloy is rapidly melted by the irradiation of an electron beam and laser light, a tungsten arc, etc. The melted surface part is then quenched, and rapidly solidified. The cooling is preferably carried out at the cooling rate of >=10 deg.C/sec. Although forced cooling can be applied as the cooling means, the melted surface part is immediately quenched by the self cooling action, since the heat input is small in case of the electron beam irradiation, etc.
