Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a reagent for scientific research, by cultivating a bacterium belonging to the genus Erwinia in a medium containing a pectin as a carbon source up to a period before the end of stationary phase of multiplication and then cultivating the bacterium in a medium containing a nonpectin as a carbon source. CONSTITUTION:A cell of a bacterium [e.g. Erwinia carotovora (FERM P-7576)] belonging to the genus Erwinia is primarily cultivated in a nutritive medium using a pectin as a carbon source up to a period before the end of stationary phase of multiplication, then secondarily cultivated in a nutritive medium containing a nonpectin of a carbon compound (e.g. glycerin) having slow metabolism as a carbon source, a culture solution is centrifuged, the cell of the bacterium is removed, the solution is dialyzed with distilled water and dehydrated to give the aimed compound.
