Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate control of dissolved oxygen concentration in a culture fluid over a wide range from an initial cultivation period to end thereof, by connecting air spargers having different hole diameters to a cultivation vessel and changing over the spargers according th the dissolved oxygen concentration in the culture fluid. CONSTITUTION:Plural air spargers 2 and 3 having different hole diameters are provided in a cultivation vessel 1 and a dissolved oxygen concentration sensor 4 is then provided to calculate a required volume of supply oxygen by a microcomputer 5 according to a signal therefrom. Opening and closing of valves 6 and 7 in the course of pipes communicating with the respective air spargers 2 and 3 are controlled according to the volume.
