Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a negative electrode for lithium secondary battery with excellent charging/discharging characteristic and mass-productivity by using an Al-Ag-Mn-In alloy as a negative electrode alloy carrier which lithium is occluded in and discharged from. CONSTITUTION:Al is used as main material, to which Ag, Mn, and In are added to form an alloy carrier, and Li is occluded therein to accomplish a lithium alloy negative electrode. Addition of these three elements to Al increases the strength of Al electrode plate, which can also be made cheaper, wherein the durability with charging/discharging is high and the whole Al can be used in effect, so that charging/discharging for a long period of time is made practicable. Even high concentration of Ag is acceptable, but it can be suppressed considerably by means of Mn addition, ranging 0.5-20wt.% of the total amount of Al-Ag-Mn-In alloy. 0.5-3wt.% Mn and 0.5-5wt.% In should assure sufficient effect.
