Abstract
PURPOSE:To lower the internal resistance of a battery with a non-aqueous liquid electrolyte and, as its positive electrode, manganese dioxide and to improve its discharge utilization factor, by limiting the amount of its liquid electrolyte within a specific range based on metallic lithium. CONSTITUTION:In a battery with a non-aqueous liquid electrolyte using as its principal negative electrode and positive electrode metallic lithium and manganese dioxide respectively, the amount of the liquid electrolyte is limited within the range of 20-30mul per mg of metallic lithium. On the other hand, used as the liquid electrolyte is a 1:1 mixture of propylene carbonate and 1,2-dimethoxyethane which mixture contains 1mol of lithium perchlorate dissolved therein. The above battery contains more liquid electrolyte with respect to metallic lithium. It readily permits to decrease the internal resistance, to increase the dischargeable watt-hour and to improve the discharge utilization factor of the battery, even if its active material is somewhat reduced in quantity. The above battery with the non-aqueous liquid electrolyte is used as a small-sized battery for wrist watch or the like.
