Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic disk which prevents the attraction of a magnetic head slider and has high reliability by providing a hard film to a base material and providing island-shaped films to this hard film. CONSTITUTION:This disk is constituted of a base material 1 consisting of an Al-Mg alloy, the hard film 2 consisting of an Ni-P plating film, the island- shaped films 3 and a magnetic recording medium film 4 consisting of Co-Ni. A commercially marketed substrate formed by forming the hard film 2 consisting of the Ni-P plating film on the surface of the base material 1 consisting of the Al-Mg alloy and subjecting the surface to mirror finishing is used and the island-shaped films 3 are formed on this substrate, then a Co-Ni film which is the magnetic recording medium film 4 is formed by sputtering on the island-shaped films 3.
