Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce ultrafine powder by using an ultrasonic wave spraying means as a spraying means for turning raw liquid to fine liquid droplets. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic wave nozzle 21 opened to the downward direction or an ultrasonic wave nozzle 22 opened to the circumferential direction is provided in a spray drying chamber 1 and herein raw liquid is turned to extremely fine liquid droplets and sprayed in the drying chamber and instantaneously dried with hot air blown into the drying chamber and ultrafine powder having extremely small diameter is produced. The ultrasonic wave nozzle is constituted of a horn, a vibrator and a raw liquid feed port and a stepped horn and an exponential horn are used as the horn. The raw liquid introduced into the nozzles 21, 22 is conducted on the inside surface of the horn and when it is sprayed from the tip part of the horn being subjected to ultrasonic wave vibration, it is turned to extremely fine liquid droplets. The frequency of the vibrator is selected in a range of 10k-100kHz and finer particles are obtained as the frequency is made higher.
