Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a raw liquid from adhering, before being dried, to walls of the apparatus body of a spray dryer having a fluidized bed at the lower portion thereof, by forming part or all of the external walls of the apparatus out of porous filters. CONSTITUTION:A raw liquid A is blown into a spray-drying area 3 at the upper part of an apparatus body 2 by a spraying means 1 such as a nozzle etc., and at the same time hot air B for drying the spray is likewise blown into the spray-drying area 3 from around the spraying means, whereby the raw liquid A changes instantaneously into a powder. Since gases including the hot air which has been blown into the apparatus are all separated from the powder by means of a porous filter 6, turbulent flow of the gases does not occur and, hence, adhesion of an undried raw liquid to the external walls of the apparatus can be prevented. Further, recovery of fine powders by means of a conveyor, transportation by air or the like is unnecessary because no powder comes into the exhaust gases. Powders which have adhered to the porous filter 6 are shaken off by vibration or air jet.
