Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure the explosion-proof safety of a battery for a long time by forming a valve of an explosion-proof sealing plate with two valves each of which is formed by heat-bonding a film to a thin aluminium plate, and by clamping the sealing plate to a battery case through an electrolyte resistant gasket. CONSTITUTION:A sealing plate B consists of a plate-shaped sealing plate 3 having a hole 3a, a cap 5 having a hole 5a, and a valve 4. The sealing plate B is crimped to a container 1 through an electrolyte resistant gasket 7. The valve 4 consists of a lower valve 4b and an upper valve 4a whose breaking pressure is equal to or less than that of the lower valve 4b. Each of valves 4b, 4a is formed by heat-bonding a resin film, having electrolyte resistance and adherency to a metal, such as polyethylene to a about 25mum thick aluminium plate C. The valve 4 steadily operates at low pressure, and damage caused by corrosive gas in the atmosphere and the electrolyte of a battery is prevented, and also the clamping strength in the sealing plate B is kept firm.
