Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect abnormality with good accuracy by disposing plural ultrasonic transmitter/receivers in a reactor and determining sound velocity from the ultrasonic wave propagation time when the waves are transmitted and received from and in the same transmitter/receivers, then determining temp. from the sound velocity. CONSTITUTION:The ultrasonic transmitter/receivers 2, 3 having directivity are hung respectively from rotary supporting mechanisms 4, 5 via supporting transmission lines 6, 7 and are constituted rotatable by 360 deg.. The command signals to the transmitter/receivers 2, 3 and the detection signals from the transmitter/receivers 2, 3 are transmitted and received between an external signal processor via the lines 6, 7. A reflector 8 is mounted on the inside surface of the reactor. The time when ultrasonic waves are emitted from the transmitter/receivers 2, 3 until the waves are reflected by the reflector 8 and are received again by the transmitter/receivers 2, 3 is measured. The ultrasonic velocity is calculated from the measured time. Since the ultrasonic wave propagation time depends on temp., the temp. is determined if the ultrasonic wave propagation time is known.
