CONSTITUTION:A centrifugal steam compressor is used for a vacuum steam compression type evaporator or the like. In this case, a steam inlet chamber 3 is installed at the outside of a steam compression space 1 together with a steam intake 4. Each of bearings 1b, 3b of a rotor axle 7 is set up in making them stick fast to each of outer wall parts 1a, 3a of the steam compression space 1 and the steam inlet chamber 3, while a shaft seal 8 is installed at the outside of these bearings 1b, 3b. With this constitution, steam produced at the evaporator is fed to the compression space 1 from a suction port 2 after being fed to the inlet chamber 3 from the intake 4. The steam is compressed by a rotary disk wheel 6, making its temperature go up, and it is refed to the evaporator. Accordingly, replacement of the shaft seal 8 can be done easily and, what is more, miniaturization or the like of the shaft seal 8 is attainable.
