Abstract

PURPOSE:To make interlocking movement of casting machine with downstream side responsively at high speed and to pass through cast slab under heat holding condition by arranging free loop between tending and straightening devices in the cast slab, detecting change of the shape at bending part of the cast slab in the free looper and controlling driving device for the cast slab. CONSTITUTION:The shape of the bending-state cast slab is changed by shifting speed difference of the cast slab 11 at position before and after the free looper 25 and this changing rate is detected by change of vertical movement of touch roller. Then, in order to control the shape of the cast slab 11 so as to become constant, the detected value is inputted in a control device 29 with a differential transformer 36 and rotating speeds of a motor 21 for driving pinch rollers 19 and a motor 28 for driving rolling mill are adjusted so that difference between the detected value and the aimed value comes to zero. By this method, the interlocking driving of the casting machine and the machinery at downstream side can be made to responsive at high speed and the holding heat of the cast slab can be sufficiently executed.
