Abstract

PURPOSE:To transfer asynchronous data without providing any decided circuit for synchronization nor modifying its contents by modulating and demodulating the asynchronous data with a clock which is an integral multiple of the one-bit length of the data. CONSTITUTION:A data transfer device 2 converts asynchronous data from an asynchronous serial data transmission line 5 into parallel data by a serial-in parallel-out shift register 9 by using the clock which is the integral multiple of the one-bit length of the data, and is inputted into a parallel-in serial-out shift resister 10. Then in this register 10, the parallel data multiplexes with the parallel data from the parallel data transmission line 4 into serial data, which is sent out to a multiplexed serial data transmission line 3. The parallel data inputted to the parallel-in serial-out shift register 12, on the other hand, is sent out to an asynchronous serial data reception line 7 with the clock which is the integral multiple of the one-bit length of the asynchronous data in synchronism with a transmission-side serial-in parallel-out shift register 9. Consequently, the need for the dedicated circuit for mutual synchronization between asynchronous data is eliminated.
