Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of the series data procesing of a microcomputer by transferring series data between a shift register and a CPU which receive and transmit the series data, through a buffer register. CONSTITUTION:When a series data input and output equipment 15 inputs series data from an external equipment, a shift register 18 receives the data synchronizing with a shift clock from a control logical circuit 21 and sets them in a buffer register 20. Then, a CPU reads the received data, set in the buffer register 20, in parallel through a bus 19. When the CPU13 is to transmit data to the external equipment, a control signal is supplied from the CPU to the control logical circuit 21 and the data are set in the buffer register 20 through the bus 19 and transferred to the shift register 18 to be sent by the clock from the control logic circuit 21. If the register 18 is busy for data transmission when the data are set in the register 20, the data are made to stand by in the register 20 temporarily. Thus, the wait time of data transfer is reduced greatly.
