Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a high-quality regenerated image by providing a corrected data storage means which corrects data for image signal conversion in accordance with a recording medium to be used such as a photosensitive element. CONSTITUTION:A copy 9 is read by CCD 71, an analog image signal obtained is amplified by an amplifier 72 and then is converted to a digital image signal by an A/D converter 73. Next, one of these digital image signals is selected by a selector 12 through gamma conversion tables 10, 11 which are lookup tables. Data obtained by addition and subtraction of two of DELTAgamma1-DELTAgamma4 based on a gammacurve stored in a memory 29 is stored in the gamma conversion tables 10, 11. The image signal selected by the selector 12 is again converted to an analog signal by means of the D/A converter 75. A comparator 76 compares a triangular signal of threefold cycle of an image flock with an analog image signal to form a pulse width modulation signal. This pulse width modulation signal is entered into a laser drive circuit 17.
