Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the use of the titled fabric as an illuminating appliance and to obtain the fiber woven fabric having high light emission efficiency by weaving optical fibers like a fabric, releasing the rays guided in the fibers from the respective flexion parts of the fibers and forming a metallic film on one face of the fabric made of the fibers. CONSTITUTION:A self-adhesive agent 4 is coated on one face of the fabric 1 consisting of the optical fibers to embed the range of a semicircular section facing the one face within the side face in the self-adhesive agent 4. A metal such as aluminum or silver is disposed in a vacuum vessel and the fabric 1 coated with the self-adhesive agent is housed in the vessel. The inside of the vacuum vessel is evacuated to a prescribed vacuum pressure and the metal element is evaporated from the metal disposed therein to form the thin metallic film 3 by a vapor deposition method on the other face of the fabric 1. The use of the optical fiber fabric as the illuminating appliance is enabled by forming this thin metallic film 3 thereon. The optical fiber woven fabric having the high light emission efficiency is thus obtd.
