CONSTITUTION:The inside surface of the lamp tube 1 for a fluorescent lamp is provided with the braided fibrous substance 5 consisting of mono- or multilayered glass wool mesh, etc., the surface of which is coated with the fluorescent substance 3 to form the fluorescent layer 6. The formation of the fluorescent layer 6 on the surface of the braided glass wool mesh is made after or before the braided fibrous substance 5 is inserted into the lamp tube 1. Thus, the ultraviolet rays can be effectedly directed into the fluorescent layer 6, the visible rays 7 generated can be radiated to the outside with less reflecting loss, so that the luminous efficiency of the lamp can be raised.
