Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve refining reaction efficiency and to shorten the time for treatment by supplying molten metal continuously into a curved tubular reaction vessel from one aperture which faces upward, rotating the molten metal and supplying refining material to the vessel from the other aperture. CONSTITUTION:The reaction vessel 4 consisting of a through-flow passage 3 having the apertures which face upward on both sides is disposed as a main reaction section. The molten iron M supplied through the one aperture from a hearth trough 1 is housed into this reaction vessel 4. Rotating motion is forced into the molten iron M in this vessel 4 by a rotating magnetic field generator 5 from one side. A disiliconizing agent (d), a refining agent, is supplied continuously or intermittently via an injection lance 6 from the other aperture simultaneously therewith and is fluidized and flowed through along with the rotating motion of the molten iron M. The molten iron M is thereby efficiently disiliconized. The molten iron M after the treatment and slag 8 are respectively taken out continuously or intermittently from discharges ports 7, 9 into troughs 2, 10.
