Abstract
PURPOSE:To exactly separate a molten iron after treatment from its molten slag, and also to effectively utilize a treating agent for unreacted materials in the molten slag, by performing prerefining of the molten iron by use of a treatment pan having a block wall whose lower part has a circulating hole. CONSTITUTION:Prior to steel making and refining of a molten iron, prerefining such as desulfurization, dephosphorization, desiliconization, etc. is performed. In this case, on a treatment pan 3 for prerefining, a block wall 11 provided with a circulating hole on its lower part is provided. The pretreatment such as desulfurization, dephosphorization, etc. is performed by putting a molten iron 2 in a large block chamber of this treatment pan 3, and adding a treating agent such as a desulfurizing agent, a dephosphorizing agent, etc. After the pretreatment has ended, the treatment pan 3 is inclined with its small block chamber down, and the treated molten iron is made to pass through the lower circulating hole of the block wall 11, and is discharged from a discharge port 7 through a passage 6. Molten slag 9 is completely separated from the molten iron 2 by the block wall 11, is left in the treatment pan 3, and also an unreaction treating agent in the molten slag 9 can be utilized with high yield by adding an untreated molten iron.
