Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to generate a spark of a long duration time efficiently by utilizing a resonant circuit formed with a discharge condenser and an ignition coil to maintain vibration by exciting the vibration synchronously with the resonance. CONSTITUTION:When an ignition signal is inputted, a control circuit 2 opens a breaker 4 for step-up voltage and closes a breaker 3 for a resonant circuit. With the opening of the breaker 4, electrical supply of a step-up voltage of a DC/DC converter 1 to a discharge condenser 5 is cut off, and with the closing of the breaker 3, the discharge condenser 5 discharges to produce a high voltage on the secondary side of an ignition coil. The control circuit 2 also monitors the voltage of the condenser 5 and closes the breaker 4 when a negative or positive peak of said voltage is detected to instantaneously supply a current to the condenser 5. A resonant circuit consisting of the condenser 5 and the ignition coil maintains the vibration with this excitation of the vibration to produce a high voltage of a quick buildup continuously on the secondary side of the ignition coil.
