Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce wasteful power consumption for a drive circuit of a printing hammer by providing a constitution in which energy accumulated in a coil is transferred to an accumulation means, a voltage of the accumulation means is controlled by a chopping means so that it is maintained at almost a constant level and thereby energy is returned to a power supply. CONSTITUTION:A capacitor 30 accumulates energy accumulated in coils CL1-CLn through diodes D1-Dn. A comparator 31 compares a voltage of the capacitor 30 with a voltage obtained by dividing a voltage of a power supply 1 as a reference, and discharges an output signal until the voltage of the capacitor 30 exceeds a prearranged value. When the oscillation of a blocking oscillator 36 continues, the energy accumulated in the capacitor 30 from an output winding of a transformer 38 through a diode 42 is transferred to and accumulated in a capacitor 4 of a power supply 1. That is, the energy accumulated in the coils CL1-CLn is discharged when the capacitor 30 accumulates it beyond a prearranged level. As a result, the voltage becomes constant and therefore, it does not adversely affect the action of a printing hammer.
