Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent a leakage liquid from flowing to the outside of a cell even if the liquid is leaked from an element cell by covering the periphery of the element cell with activated carbon and storing this element cell and activated carbon in a sealed case. CONSTITUTION:The outside of an element cell 1 consisting of a hermetic seal cell is covered with granular, powdery, or fibered activated coal 2 obtained by processing wood, brown coal, peat with an activating agent then drying it or activating charcoal or the like with steam. Wood chips, coconut shell, brown coal or the like are used for the granular or powdery activated carbon. Natural cellulose fibers or polyacrylonitrile, rayon pitch fibers baked at a high temperature are used for the fibered activated carbon. A sealed case is placed outside the activated carbon with the activated carbon filled. A nonaqueous electrolyte cell is used for the element cell.
