Abstract
PURPOSE:To form a uniform ferromagnetic metallic layer and to obtain high magnetic recording characteristics by heating the surface of an underlying layer with a surface heating source and subjecting the surface to flush working, then forming the ferromagnetic metallic layer on the surface of the underlying layer having no contaminants. CONSTITUTION:The contaminations adsorbed on the substrate surface generated by time lags in respective stages are removed by surface heating means such as IR and laser light and a ferromagnetic metal is uniformly epitaxially grown on the substrate surface subjected to such removal to form the ferromagnetic metallic layer thereon. The existence quantity of oxygen and carbon at the boundary face of the underlying layer is confined to <1% in this case. The magnetic recording characteristics are thereby stabilized and always the high magnetic recording characteristics are maintained.
