Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily form multicolored films having excellent ornamentality by forming a colored film by an ion plating method on the surface of ornamental goods made of a hard underlying metal such as watch cases, then removing part of the film by laser beam processing to patterned shapes, thereby exposing the underlying metal. CONSTITUTION:The golden film 2 of TiN is formed to 1mum thickness by the ion plating on the surface of the underlying metal 1 of the ornamental goods such as watch cases made of a sintered hard metal. The TiN film 2 is then removed according to the specified patterns by using a laser beam to expose the underlying metal 1. The multicolored patterns which consist of the underlying metal 1 and the TiN film 2 and have the excellent ornamentality are easily formed without using a mask of specific patterns, etc.
