Abstract
PURPOSE:To surely maintain the tension of a strip in the outlet of a heating chamber at a prescribed value by measuring the tension of the strip which emerges from a cooling chamber above the heating chamber and travels down ward and controlling the tension in the inlet of the heating chamber. CONSTITUTION:The strip S of a stainless steel, etc., is passed through a vertical continuous heat treatment furnace 1 successively provided with the heating chamber 2 and the cooling chamber 6 above said chamber and is thereby annealed in a heating chamber line 20; thereafter, the strip is turned downward in a top part 8a and is taken out of an outlet 8b via a chute 8. A tension detector 10 for the strip S is disposed in the position of the height near the outlet 2a of the above-mentioned heating chamber 2. The value TP detected by this detector is inputted to a tension control device 13. The tension is compared with the set value TS from a tension setter 12 and a signal SB is outputted to control bridle rolls 11 in the inlet of the heating chamber so as to lower the deviation value between TP and TS to zero. The strip tension in the outlet part 2a of the heating chamber where the strength of the strip S is lowest is thereby surely maintained at the prescribed value, by which the continuous heating chamber of the strip S is safely and surely executed.
