Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to perform connection easily and completely by putting the end surfaces of composite oxide superconductive wires to be connected to face each other through oxide superconductive material, sintering or pressure-contacting them, and mechanically integrating the metal coating of each composite oxide superconductive wire with each other. CONSTITUTION:A sheet or block which is a little larger than the outer diameter of subject wires is inserted between the end surfaces of composite oxide superconductors to be connected, and they are pressed and kept at 850-1000 deg.C for 1-48 hours, so the attached surfaces are sintered or fused. Then the connecting part is heat-treated in an atmosphere of oxygen or slowly cooled at the cooling speed of about 200 deg.C/hour in an atmosphere of oxygen, so connection is performed. After this, the metal coatings of both composite oxide superconductive wires are mechanically integrated with each other to complete connection. Connection of the metal part and the oxide superconductive part of the composite oxide superconductive wire can thus be performed easily and completely.
