Abstract
PURPOSE:To execute measurement including wavelength selection efficiently without an optical spectrum measurement system, which has been used, by arranging an optical filter, through which only a wave range required is transmitted, in front of a photodetector and measuring injection current versus optical output characteristics. CONSTITUTION:When the oscillation wavelength of a semiconductor laser 2 is kept near 1310nm, the transmittance of an optical filter 3 (wavelength transmission characteristics 7) is 95%, approximately the greater part of light emitted from the semiconductor laser 2 reach a photodetector 4, and injection current versus optical output characteristics 11 are approximately equal to the case of no optical filter 3. When the oscillation wavelength of the semiconductor laser 2 is kept near 1295nm, the amount of light entering the photodetector 4 reaches 50% of the amount of emission of the semiconductor laser 2, thus bringing the gradient of injection current versus optical output characteristics 12 to 50% of the case of no optical filter 3. Accordingly, when a standard for selection is set previously regarding the gradient of injection current versus optical output characteristics the characteristics of the semiconductor laser including wavelength selection are selected without measuring an optical spectrum.
