Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve discharge utilization factor in heavy load characteristics by adding nonionic surface active agent to alkaline electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:Nonionic surface active agent which is stable to alkaline electrolyte is added practically by 0.01-0.1wt.% to be used as the electrolyte of a gel negative electrode 8. For nonionic surface active agent, penta-ethylene glycol dodecylether, hexa-, hepta-, octa-ethylene glycol dodecylether, etc., can be used. This makes wetness of negative electrode zinc by alkaline electrolyte good and increases the discharge reaction area of the zinc, thereby the heavy load characteristics are improved, and the discharge utilization factor becomes good.
