Abstract
The process comprises addition to the conventional negative electrode paste, of ortho-phenanthroline, to complex the Fe2+ ions in the solution. The undersitable effects of alloying with iron or negative activity sponge lead are also inhibited. Accidental presence of Fe2+ ions in the electrolyte is countered, up to the limits set by the battery manufacture.
