Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve a high contrast characteristic, dot quality and fogging by incorporating a specific compd. and hydrazide compd. which releases a development restrainer into at least one layer of hydrophilic colloid layers coated and provided on a base. CONSTITUTION:This photosensitive material has the base and at least one layer of the hydrophilic colloid layers, as photosensitive silver halide emulsion layers, provided and coated on the base; in addition, the compd. expressed by formula I and the hydrazide compd. which releases the development restrainer when attacked by a nucleophilic agent after oxidation by the oxidation product of a developing agent are incorporated into at least one layer of the hydrophilic colloid layers. In formula I, such groups as alkyl group and aminosulfoxyl group are exemplified as the preferable examples of the substituents expressed by R<1>-R<3>. The anion expressed by X<-> is exemplified by halogen ions, etc., such as, for example, chloride ion, bromide ion and iodide ion. The low fogging, the extremely high contrast and the good dot quality are thereby obtd.
