Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the surface of slurry with shape keeping property, to prevent a decrease in thickness in a drying process, and to make a sintered substrate thick by applying slurry prepared with nickel powder, water, and specific water-soluble polymer to a beltlike perforated nickel plated plate, by immediately supplying in a forced heating furnace to cause thermo-gelation. CONSTITUTION:Carbonyl nickel powder is added to a hydroxypropyl methylcellulose aqueous solution to prepare slurry. A beltlike perforated nickel plated plate is passed through the slurry and passed between knives of a slit to remove excess slurry. The plate coated with slurry is immediately passed through a forced heating furnace so that the surface temperature of the perforated plate is kept at 60-70 deg.C. By thermo-gelation of water soluble polymer, shape keeping property is given to the slurry. After dried, the plate is passed through a sintering furnace in an reducing atmosphere of hydrogen or ammonia decomposed gas at 800-1000 deg.C to produce a porous sintered substrate. The thin substrate having a thickness of up to 1.1mm and having a good surface condition is obtained.
