Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the critical current density by filling an oxide system material in a metal tube, vacuum-evacuating and sealing the inside of the metal tube, and plastic-processing it in a hot heating condition at 950 to 1400 deg.C. CONSTITUTION:After an oxide material 2 is filled in a metal tube 1, the air is evacuated to a vacuum through an exhaust port 3, the pipe of the exhaust port 3 is compressed and sealed up by a press or the like to form a seal 4, and a composite formation is made up. As the oxide material 2, in case of a Y-Ba-Cu-O system, for example, powders of Y2O3, BaCO3, and CuO are mixed as material powders to make a desired composition, and the mixture powder is heat-treated sufficiently in the oxygen atmosphere to produce an oxide superconductor of a desired crystalline structure. The composite formation 10 which consists of the metal tube 1 and the oxide material 2 is inserted in a container 11, and after heating it by a heater 12A, a pressure is applied to a ram 13, to make the composite formation 10 into a wire material 15A by passing through a die 14.
