Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable writing, rewriting, erasing, etc. by constituting a recording medium of a ferroelectric high-polymer liquid crystal and a substrate disposed with this liquid crystal. CONSTITUTION:A transparent electrode 12 consisting of a tin oxide film, indium oxide film, etc., is provided on the transparent electrode 11 consisting of glass, plastic, etc., and the ferroelectric high-polymer liquid crystal 13 is coated thereon while the liquid crystal is stretched and oriented. A transparent electrode 14 is further disposed thereon and if necessary, a transparent protective film 15 is provided thereon to complete the information recording medium 10. A switch 16 is selected to connect the upper electrode 14 to a power supply 18 so as to attain a (+) potential reverse from erasing and the voltage V(+) for writing is previously impressed while the entire part of the recording medium 10 is at a temp. T9 and the liquid crystal 13 is in a glass state in the case of executing writing. The laser light 20 condensed by a lens 19 is projected in this state to the liquid crystal 13. The inversion of the orientation state of the liquid crystal molecules is thereby executed in the projected part 21, by which the writing is executed.
