Abstract

PURPOSE:To broaden a region of reaction temp. and to eliminate constraint of temp. conditions by using alloy which consists of two or more kinds selected from specified elements as a main component, as a reducing agent for reducing mercury contained in exhaust gas of incineration. CONSTITUTION:Alloy consisting of two or more kinds of elements selected among Fe, Ca, Si, Cr, Ti, Al, Mn and Mo as a main component is used as a reducing agent. For example, CaSi, FeTi, FeMo, FeCr, FeSi and FeMn, etc., are used and exhaust gas is introduced into a reduction tower packed with the reducing agent which is molded into a particular shape or a prescribed shape. In this case, the temp. of exhaust gas is not especially limited and this alloy can be used until decomposition temp. thereof and water-soluble mercury contained in exhaust gas is almost reduced to metallic mercury by this treatment.
