Abstract
PURPOSE:To easily manufacture a steel finely and uniformly dispersed with carbonitride therein by casting low-nitrogen molten steel of specific composition in an atmosphere of nitrogen or mixed atmosphere of nitrogen and inert gas. CONSTITUTION:The low-nitrogen molten steel of 0.002-0.15% C, <=0.5% Si, 0.5-2.4% Mn, 0.005-0.5% Ti, 0.005-0.10% SolAl, and <=0.004% N, satisfying C%+Mn%/6+Si%/24<=0.4 is prepared. This molten steel is cast by an ingotting method or continuous casting method in an atmosphere of nitrogen or mixed atmosphere of nitrogen and inert gas. Thereby, the nitrogen amount in the molten steel is increased to 0.004-0.0110% at the casting, and carbonitride is dispersed in the Al killed steel. This method is applied irrespective of steel kinds and the kinds of casting systems and carbonitrides.
