Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily mass-produce the title emulsion capable of giving a stable conductive coating free of deterioration with time and having a desired conductivity and an excellent processability, by polymerizing an arom. compd. or a heteroatom.-contg. arom. compd. in the presence of a polymer emulsion through chemical oxidation thereof. CONSTITUTION:An O/W type polymer emulsion (A) contg. 2-60wt.% polymer particles dispersed therein and derived from an ethylenically unsatd. compd., a vinyl compd., an unsatd. acid, etc. is stirred while dropwise adding thereto at least 20wt.% (based on the polymer of the component A) arom. compd. or heteroatom.-contg. arom. compd. (B) capable of forming a conductive polymer, such as benzene, naphthalene, pyrrole, furan, thiophene or aniline, to effect chemical oxidative polymn. thereof in the presence of 10-200wt.% (based on the component B) oxidative polymn. catalyst (C) also serving as a dopant and selected from peroxides such as ammonium persulfate, and metallic salts such as FeCl3 and AlCl3 at -10-100 deg.C.
